Okay so, a little background information. There is a Bridal store that closed down in my city, and they were selling three after six bridesmaid dresses for $150 dollars, they were the exact sizes I needed so I decided to buy them. Now that I get them home and keep looking at them, they arent really the color I want my wedding to be, so a friend of mine suggested bringing them to get professionally dyed. I was wondering if any of you girls have ever tried this? And if so, how did it turn out? The color of the dresses are American Beauty (After Six) and the color I want is Punch (Coral).

That will depend on the fiber content of the fabric, the current color, and the color you’re aiming for.
If they are polyester, you are probably out of luck – it’s really difficult to get it to take dye. If they are a natural fiber (cotton, silk, linen) you might be able to do something with them.
Rule of thumb: it’s much easier to go from a lighter shade to a darker one, than vice versa.

I dyed my davids bridal silver Bridesmaid or Best Man dress to cornflower blue after I wore it in a wedding. My friend did it for me with a dye you use in the washing machine. The outer layer took the color well, but the inner layer is still silver.
