If it was the 1970s then yes not a good idea in the first 12 weeks, however the cemicals used today are fine, that is curtesy of my hairdresser, who has coloured many a pregnant womans hair.

My midwife recommended waiting until the second trimester to dye hair, in no small part because the smell can be overwhelming and sickening, especially if you do it yourself. And to make sure you’re in a well-ventilated area. I waited until 14 weeks, and I’m glad I did, because even with the fans on and the windows open the smell was overwhelming.

I imagine it’s less of a problem if you go to a salon, but I’d still try to go to one with big open spaces with a lot of airflow.

My sister is a hair dresser and we talked about this. Just be sure you are in a well ventilated place. The dye’s do not leach into your skin and blood, they only stick to the dead cells which your hair is.

My doctor said it was totally fine, and I didnt even ask her about it..she was just listing a laundry list of stuff she was fine with and that was one.
