So, I have my engagement pictures coming up this Thursday...and I'm going nuts over figuring out my outfit!  Here is my dilemma:

Anyone who knows me is aware of my penchant for prints. Literally, my entire wardrobe is chock full of them. They are fun, they are interesting, they are very very me.

However, does that really bode well for e-pics?  I don't know!  I am hesitant to wear a print up by my face, but what if it is on my bottom half?  i scoured the mall today looking for a solid outfit to wear...and I came up pretty empty handed (I am less than a size 0 in most stores, and it is so so hard to find clothes that fit me).  Then, I came upon this dress, and I thought it was a good compromise!  The dress top is solid, it has a high waist, and the bottom half has a print, which is on the darker side (turquoise, blue, grey, black).  Overall, I thought it was a great compromise of 1/2 and 1/2...since prints are so "me" and all...

Do you think this will turn out badly for my e-pics? I really would appreciate any input that you have on my outfit!  I still have a few more days to shop!

I have had people tell me that you shouldn't do prints but I have seen e-pictures where they wore prints and they looked awesome. I say go for it. As long as the dress doesn't clash with the mr. go for it! Plus it is who you are. You need to be you in the pictures!

I don't see why you shouldn't wear prints!

The dress is cute and if it's you I say go for it!

You could always ask your photographer if you are really unsure!

I'm afrald you might overpower the Mr. or draw attention away from your facial expressions...

If prints are you, then go with prints!  I don't think you need to "compromise" anything... your e-pics should reflect you and your FI's styles, prints and all!  You'll feel much more comfortable being yourself while your photographer clicks away.  :)

@Firefiighter_Prazs_Girl - Thanks! I purposely haven't chose his attire yet...I was waiting until I picked mine...he will most likely wear a blue button down with the sleeves rolled up, jeans...pretty basic...

@Future Mrs. Martin - Good suggestion - I sent a message to my photog a bit earlier to see what he thought...I'm eagerly/nervously awaiting reply!

@Miss Bravo - Yep, I hear you, that is what I was afraid of in the first place with a print...most of my wardrobe is all over print though, so I was trying to make somewhat of a compromise.  Don't you ever get that awful feeling of "I have so many clothes, but nothing to wear?"  This is soo me right now.

@ddubzz - Thank you!  I was mainly worried that in close up pictures, a print would be distracting.  I figured this might be a good balance, because close up pics might only feature the top part, which is black, or only a very small amount of the print...and it wouldn't be distracting.  But, I am no photog!  haha!

I would definitely say to go for the prints...especially if they are you! I never heard that you should NOT wear prints in your engagement pictures becuase we had them taken in Mexico the week after we got engaged so I definitely wore a printed dress.

I took a missions trip to West Africa where I had several African style dresses made for me and I wore one of them for our engagement pics and got SO many compliments. I loved the way that the pictures turned out! I know that Mrs. Avocado also wore a printed dress for her engagement pics and they turned out beautiful!

I attached a few pics of our e-pics so that you can judge for yourself

    love the dress!! very cute!

wear what makes you feel good. when you feel good, you have confidence and confidence shows through. however, when in doubt, and if you don't ever want to look dated......wear black!

@poodle - Thanks lady! Theo is busy pigging out on a peanut butter filled Kong...he's sucha spoiled brat! I must remind him to watch his figure if he wants to impress the potential love of his life...sheesh!

@ladybuglove - great point! I wanted to find something that was kind of fun/young...since my wedding dress is pretty sophisticated (all lace, very romantic looking)...I thought it would be a fun contrast to have some fun, lighthearted pictures!

if you are a print girl, i would definitely go for the print. i think that the e-pics that look the best are the ones where you look like yourself.  Have a blast!  Can't wait to see the results.

I don't see a problem with the dress. Maybe have FI dressed in solids for contrast.

@bluespurrs - Yep, I'm definitely putting him in a solid shirt...most likely a nice polo shirt, perhaps in blue (he has the most beautiful blue eyes)

If you can rock it, I say go for it! The dress is beautiful! I LOVE it! I can't imagine that it will overpower the pictures because you actually do have a solid color on the top part of your dress and besides the colors of the dress aren't loud so I think you will look FAB!

    Great job!

@RoddyBride09 - Thanks! We actually found a polo shirt for him today that is the turquoise color that is in the skirt...definitely brightens the two of us up, but doesn't look too matchy matchy I think!  And the best thing was...we found it on clearance for $5...it was the only one on the rack left; it was meant to be!

I think you can do whatever you want:)  I would agree just make sure you aren't wearing stripes and he is wearing polkadots:)  Don't want to clash:)  But have fun and do what is "you".  That dress is really cute.

The only other thing I would keep in mind is just where your shots are being taken and the colors and such around that is the only thing that may change what kind of outfit, or colors or such to me.

Katie... that dress is SO YOU (I went to college with her so trust me people! She's the most IMPECCIBLY DRESSED WOMAN I KNOW!) Literally wear it or I'll fly down there and make you. I love it!

I think you should wear something that represents you.  If that's a print, then go for it!  As far as that dress, I think it's beautiful and if I were you I would totally wear it!

Ah, @kjpugs - you know me too well ;) It screamed "Katie" at the moment I saw it!

@MrsSl82be - I got it at Dillard's! They had another one that looked very similar too, with a different pattern on the bottom, but a ribbon sash instead of a patent belt.
