Where in CT are you hoping to go?
Around Hartford (where I am) there's Elizabeth Park with the Rose Garden and ponds, an overlook on Prospect Ave that has a view of the Hartford skyline. You could go downtown to Bushnell Park and the Carousel and the Capitol building (which is gorgeous) and the Soldiers and Sailors Arch. Or go to Pratt Street which is pretty cute with a cobble street and kinda old fashioned looking. Or go to the Riverfront and take pics near the CT River.
You could go into one of the cooler bars/restaurants if you wanted a different vibe - Black Eyed Sally's has a great blues/jazzy feel to it or Pigs Eye Pub is casual with pool tables and an outside deck that looks out at the Capitol and Bushnell Park.
Outside of the Hartford area I'd be a bit more clueless!
Good luck! Hope you find a spot that you're happy with!
Thank you for your suggestions, those all sound fun! We're in the Norwich area, near the casinos...so I'd like to stay around here if possible, but I've just got such a mental block, I think because its a week from tomorrow and Im feeling the pressure to decide!
the carousel in west haven (its near the light house)...its beautiful..when i got married we had to give a donation of $100-it was so worth the money
Yale has beautiful, old buildings that you can take photos in front of. There are a lot of doors and gates, too, and the New Haven Green is right nearby.
Have you asked your photographer for ideas? We didn't know what to do either and they came up so fast that we left it up to him. We ended up in the town we live in - never would have thought we could get fabulous pictures there. It's worth a shot!
All of your suggestions do sound like they would lead to beautiful and fun pictures, but I think we have finally made a choice (maybe!). Like Christine, we started to take a hard look at the town in which we live and are buying our first house together in, Norwich, for inspiration. We decided to start at Indian Leap Falls, which, just like it sounds, is a really pretty waterfall with a footbridge over it. I think the bridge will add some character into what might have otherwise been "just another waterfall" kind of picture. And Im hoping us on the bridge will be the focus- not the water fall itself. Then we'll head to the nearby Mohegan Park, which has beautiful rose gardens, a fountain, and a pagoda for background interest, but also just has lots of open grass and some woodlands. So we can play around with all of that. Oh, and it has a playground, which I was hoping to incorporate since FI proposed near one. So wish us luck - now I have to figure out what to wear!! :o)
I'll tell you what my photographer told us:
"The location is irrelevant. Any good photographer can capture beautiful images anywhere, anytime." I know this might not actually help you find a place, but it takes the pressure off a little. Your pictures will be beautiful because it's the two of you.
i know its after the fact...but i noticed you are from norwich, my FI and I are from Norwich and Montville...I just thought that was cool.....

Hi guys!
We're scheduled to take our Engagement pictures June 7, but still haven't told our photog where we want them taken! I need ideas! My fiance propsed at a playground (out of state) so I thought a vintage-y one in a park might lead to some cute photos, but I like the idea of almost everywhere- the beach, a city, a touristy part of Mystic- we can't decide! And although some places are special to us I don't want ALL of our pictures to look the same, does that make sense? Help!
