You think they're bad? I think they're great! But - I totally understand photography disappointment, so I get it. I do hope you feel a little better about them than you did.
I think they came out great. You guys look very happy.
What exactly don't you like about them? Editing? Location?
the last one looks very pixelated...is that because you enlarged it? Or does it actually look like that?
I think they turned out really well! I really like the one of you guys and your dog, so cute!
No it's because I had to screw around resizing and I'm not an expert
These are the ones I truly like. It's more that the VAST majority are too pose-y and looked unnatural. I wanted the shoot to be, I don't know, more organic than it ended up being. And also the pics from the actual party ended up being just a bunch of portrait shots not and candid pics of the actual party. Just disappointing overall, but these three are the ones of us that I do really like. But out of so many it's just disappointing, you know?
I'm sorry you feel that way Kittyachi, but at least you do have a few beautiful couple shots now that you can love forever
and there will always be more opportunities for photos! Think of this as a test run!
I'm actually really glad we did do this because now I know exactly what I want and what I don't like and I'l be able to give better direction when I find another photographer.
I like the third one a lot! I really like the second one too, but I think it would look better if it were possible to edit out the dog leash? Overall I like the three you posted
Haha yeah the leash is in there 'cause my dog is unruly and my Dad was just to my side holding the other end of the leash so she wouldn't go crazy. She rocks a Grateful Dead bear leash, though, which makes it OK that it's in the pic :)
I'm sorry that you don't like how your pictures turned out. We haven't gotten our pics back yet and I'm super nervous I won't like them at all, either. I'm glad that you found out what you want and don't want from your next photographer, it's just too bad that you had to find out with bad pictures. The ones you posted were really cute though!
Kitty, I don't think they were terrible, granted that the quality is better than what is posted here. The last one is my favorite of the three. And in your photographer's defense, in an engagement shoot there is nothing "naturally going on" to photograph. He can't just necessarily just catch a moment, he has to MAKE the moments, because, well, its a photo shoot! I'd be interested to see the next three "best" photos looked like to really tell if I think he was a good photographer or not. Did you have something special in mind you wanted to use the e-pics for?
We were maybe gonna do a blow up for people to sign at the wedding instead of a guest book but I'm kind of not into that idea anymore. We just wanted to have them for posterity. Ultimately I'm glad we did work with these people for the e-pics because I know I don't want them for the wedding. They aren't terrible (after retouching) but I've seen some that are so much better floating around the hive and I'm a little jealous. I don't think we got creative enough with it but we didn't really have the time to do that so that's not on the photog really. Let's put it this way - I wouldn't give them a bad review anywhere, I don't feel that they didn't do their job (with the exception of not retouching when they were supposed to), they just weren't a good fit for us.
Kittyachi- I like the second and third pics as well. Sorry you are disappointed in the others. I grew up with snap happy photog parents and I am rarely happy with pics of me. I need to practice before the wedding! Maybe you can have a friend take some more pics of you and your FI around the holidays?
Number 2 is my favorite. Both of you seem very happy, I like the color in your FH's suit!, your puppy is so cute, and the Dead bears leash is a nice touch. :)
The third pic is my fav although I'm a sucker for any picture with the dog in it :) I think of all the pics (including ones I didn't bother to pist because I'm not into them) the third one I posted here is the most natural feeling one.
Okay, I think you two look cute together, but I think from what I can see in the reduced photographs, that your photograph has a focus issue. The second photograph with your dog has your dog in crisp detail while you and your FI are out of the field of focus. There seems to be a general clumsiness with aperture and shutter speed that you may want your wedding photographer to have more expertise with. And one of the reasons I chose the photographer I did for our wedding is that she was really good at making us laugh and getting more natural looking posed shots, because, yeah, they're all posed.
@cheerful - the originals look much better than the resized ones bc I don't really know wth i'm doing when it comes to photos and computers but I see what you're saying.
They are all nice but I like the one with the dog the best!
I don't think the photos are bad at all. The last one, especially, is very soft and romantic.
It does sound as though you're looking for someone who shoots in a more documentary style, though. My photographer trained as a photojournalist, and I really like her work, so send mea PM if you'd like her contact info!
Yeah I'm currently looking into accredited photographers from the wedding photojournalist association web site to get the look/feel I'm going for.

Well, as I mentioned in this post I was super dissapointed in my e-pics. FINALLY got the CD from the photog after the retouching, which they were supposed to have done before they posted the pics to the site, and ready to post. There are really only 3 of me and FI that I like - the best of the not so great, if you will. Someone tell me they aren't as bad as I think they are.
