I won't recommend mixing studio fix powder with moisturizer...! It seems like mixing flour and oil! Drugstore foundations have agents that are highly reflective and might make your coloring weird. I won't recommend using drugstore brand either. You could borrow a good foundation from a friend.
Your most inexpensive solution would be buying a less expensive product and asking a counter sales person to match your foundation and do your makeup. Just keep in mind while many counter assosiates are artists, most are hired and keep their job because of their ability to maintain sales and hit their targets. It will be a risk you will need to be willing to take! you are already spending money for your engagement photos though!
good luck!
Thanks Skyla but I wasn't talking about mixing my powder with lotion :) I want an cheap alternative to my powder.
None of my friends are my color so borrowing is out of the question, sad I know. Anybody use a drugstore brand that is good and will work for some photos? Weather here is going to be freezing cold and overcast with maybe some sun peaking in here and there.
Sorry but I don't have any ideas! I don't use drugstore makeup at all. Hopefully someone else sees it though.
I LOVE the Bare Minerals products but I can only afford to buy them once in a while. If you have an Ulta or another big makeup store close, I would recommend PUR minerals. It is an alternative to Bare Minerals and it is AWESOME. You can get a starter set that comes with the Foundation/Powder, Blush, Bronzer, and a brush for like $40 bucks. It gives you an AWESOME glow and you really don't feel like you're wearing makeup at all. It covers up everything. Good Luck.
Yeah after reading reviews online about drugstore brands...I'm OUT! A lot of the reviews say it makes your face oily, breakout etc...that is what I DONT want to happen! So I'm going to either Macys or BonTon tomorrow or this weekend. Any suggestions on Department Store brand makeup? I am now looking for liquid or powder (would prefer powder since it's easier to apply for me) that give good coverage and DONT make you break out. I have sensitive skin and am prone to acne flare ups. Help!
I love products from Laura Mercier & Bobbi Brown - stop by those counters and talk to the makeup artists & see what works best for you. Good luck!!
P.S. I have always used Almay powder - have never liked any other powder from the department stores or drugstores! I bet their liquid foundations are great as well!
I am a fan of MAC, they should have a tinted moisturizer that will work great. Also, just FYI, mixing moisturizer with makeup will break down our makeup.
This is going to go up on the weddingbee blog soon, but here is my exhaustive list of what I used... and I loved it all!!!
Thanks Scissors!
I would go to a MAC counter but our Macys doesn't have one. I do already have Make Up For Ever HD primer for my face and Two Faced Shadow Insurance Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer, and a nice MAC creame blush. I just need a good powder or foundation (not MAC since its not sold here) and lipstick that will look good in photos! I am REALLY fair skinned and while red lips look good on many, I'm not one of those lucky people.
Some brands at a store near me, I need your input ladies!Clarins, Clinique, Elizabeth Arden, Prescriptives, Lancome, Estee Lauder etc. Our Macys's doesn't have MAC, Bobbi Brown, Urban Decay ... seems like any of the brands I want really! GRRR Frustrated now that the pics are on Sunday!
@scissors: Do you use the Makeup Forever foundation during the summer? I'm trying to decide if I want to go to liquid foundation but I'm afraid that it will melt off my face with the humidity.
I do, and it stays matte all day. Love it.
I've always not gotten along with MAC makeup for some reason. I just end up looking like an oil slick by the end of the day, or it feels caked on. The MUFE is soooo light, for real. Use the Makeup Forever!
Also try that Clinique stuff. If you get sweaty in the summer, it is RIDICULOUS. Stops it all.
What kinds of brands do you have at Macy's? Clinique/Lancome/Estee Lauder also have some good foundations, too.
Estee Lauder & MAC are the same company btw, so if you really like MAC products~~ My friend is a religious user of doublewear and she loves it.
Oh and if you don't want full coverage anything, you can sheer it down by mixing with your moisturizer.
good luck~

We are doing our e-pics on Sunday which is a little sooner than I expected and I don't have my makeup in order. I use MAC Studio Fix powder daily which is fine because I'm just going to work. I want something with a little more oomph in the photos to give me a nice even, soft, sheer sexy glow. I've been told that if you don’t want full coverage makeup take a dab of your favorite full coverage makeup and mix it with your daytime facial moisturizer. Has anyone tried this? How does it work? I also don't use full coverage makeup what drugstore brand do you recommend that blends well (don't want to spend a fortune on makeup for only 1-2 hours!). I appreciate the help and any other makeup tips you can give me for the e-pics I appreciate!
