ETA: coordinate his collar/leash with your outfits! My dog's blue leash in these pics just kills me! Why didn't I think of this?!
We have our e-pics tomorrow and I really wanted to include our two dogs in some of the photos. We don't have one of the 4 of us. But in thinking it out, they are so rambunctious that I don't want to be all revved up during our shoot. I want us to be nice and relaxed. So we're leaving them at home and hopefully will get someone to take a photo of all of us.
But with one puppy, I don't think you'll have a problem. Sounds like he might be all wiggly too! :o)
Your photographer will help you out and hopefully your pup listens and can hold a sit for as long as needed!
We included our dogs in our shoot! Three of them, all rambunctious. We didn't get any of them to really behave properly indoors, but it helped when we got them outside and ran them around the yard a bit. I'd say just go with the flow - if the dog wants to be wiggly and feisty, your photog will still capture some great shots. If the dog will behave and sit/stay, that makes everyone's job easier! I've attached a couple pictures that we got - I can post some more later if they're helpful.
One suggestion as far as the overall session goes: maybe you should do half with your dog, and then put the dog in the car with the windows cracked or something and do some on your own, just to get some pictures with a different vibe. But most of all, have fun!
OMG ashlle - I love the pic with all 3 dogs looking out the window!
Boy do I have a bunch for you too!
We used our 3 pugs. First batch:
1 & 2- walking pics can be cute and artistic!
3- we went to Lucas Oil Stadium (GO COLTS) and took pictures there... End Zone was on the walkway outside it. Use local landmarks!
4- Some puggie paws with my ring
5-Picking up poop... she happened to capture this. It never ends!
6- Family pic is a must!
Also, I did our Save The Dates with shirts for the pugs. Have your dog hold a sign or wear a shirt!
Plus I made sure to get individual dog shots... Meet Sophie, Dixie, and Harley aka Sir Harles!
aw, i love everyone's pictures! i agree with the others--just go with the flow. i wouldn't set your heart on perfectly posed pictures (although if it happens that would be great)--we had some cute informal pictures interacting with our pug.
we also did half the shoot with our dog, and half without. it worked out well. if you do go outdoors with a pug, you might want to bring a friend who can hold the leash just to help keep things in order.
and bring many, many, many treats.
all these photos were taken by ananda lima, who i found on weddingbee!

kjpugs, that "end zone" picture totally makes me giggle!
@stephinPA - thanks! I think that will be our Christmas gift to our families...heh.
@kjpugs - I love the Save the Date shirts! What a great idea!
I just love looking at all these pictures of everyone's dogs! Dogs are so cute...
Oh my goodness, I have English Bulldog love! R's family has one named Sir William. (No, I'm not kidding!)
Ditto the leaf pictures, those can be really cute. We have one with William where he's sitting on a bench next to one of the residents at the nursing home (his "owner") as a puppy. It's adorable. Maybe he could sit between the two of you?
loving all of these pics! I agree w/ pp, bring an extra hand to handle the leash, bring lots of extra treats!
also-- probably do dog pics last thing so that if you need to roll around on the ground with them it is AFTER your serious lovey dovey shots :)
My husband and I have an English bulldog as well. Right before my husband deployed for the first time, we did a family photo session with our 11-month-old bulldog. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the session, taken by the fabulous Leigh Miller.
GRRRR... I am having trouble uploading the pictures, even though they are small enough in size. I'll try again later from a PC... perhaps there are issues getting the files from my Mac.
OMG Lovvvvingggg these pics! Lavenderpug, you know I love yours, LOL!
One suggestion (besides the GREAT one of having a helping hand) is...
LINT ROLLERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (In this pic I'm probably telling Sophie to stop shedding immediately.)
(ps my pics are all by Erin Hession Photography!)
@DixieDeb the pics didn't show up... I'm dying to see them!!!!!
Awwww those are so cute, I can't wait until we get a puppy. The plan right now is to go to his parents house and get some shots with their dog (we both love dogs so much but we can't have them in our rental, and we have already snuck cats in under the radar lol)
For whatever reason, I cannot get my pictures to load, even though they are small enough. You can see some of the pictures on Leigh's blog though, at this link.
@kjpugs: I know I've already commented on your STDs, but seeing them again made me smile just as much as the first time!
Would it be super creepy if I made your STD my desktop background at work? LOL totally just kidding
@honeybun bahaha you sound like me, there's a website I stalk (http://www.ownedbypugs.com/) their blog posts are the "daily bark" ones on the right... she has 2 purebred pugs, then rescued Luna (who is tooo cute) then one day this person brought a pug over he had found WANDERING THE STREETS... they ended up adopting her and naming her Sol, she has had cancer TWICE in less than a year, is super old and, in my opinion.... the cutest thing in the world. I think I scare their owner on Twtiter since whenever they tweet about her I RT like 700 times with awwww I love Sol!
The attached pic is my current desktop background. (you can also see it here)
Thanks gals SOOOO much for all the wonderful tips! Ya'll are wonderful and so sweet.
I want alot of candid pics, so I think my default we're gonna have lots with him (His name is Oxley. Name after OSU's prez of course!).
@JeniRaie-just realized his collar is red and his leash blue, so glad you reminded me to think of things like that. Petsmart trip tonight!
@kjpugs-I absolutely love the end zone and save the date pictures! Darn, wish we had 2 more bulldogs so we could mimic your save the date one-so creative! And running to the store tonight to get a lint roller-so smart!
I'll post pics when I get them back. I can't wait but at the same time so nervous b/c everyone has gorgeous e-pics and I don't want to ruin them with like goofy faces or whatnot.
Oh! And @kjpugs-I forgot to mention how creative your shot with your e-ring and all the pup's paws! Seriously, I majorly heart your pics!
These are absolutely precious!! I love them. I even had a dream last night - not about the wedding - but about getting a puppy. I really want one for Christmas, but I don't think FH wants one.
Gosh, this makes me want a puppy so badly..I've been wanting one forever!
The landloard in our apt won't let us have pets. So for now, no go :( It will happen soon though. My plan:
1. Get married
2. Move out of current apt.
3. Get puppy!
@AOEBuckeye Oxley! I love it! I have to give you an O-h! since all my suitemates freshman year of college (in NC) were OSU fans and got me into it. I have a friend whose Frenchie is named Brutus!!!!!
Can't wait to see the pics! Thanks for the compliments!
The pics went so well (and so fast!). Oxley was mischievious during the entire shoot, but I'm sure it made for some goofy-lovey pictures. Now the hard part...waiting 2 weeks!! I've seriously stalked their blog twice already since the session. Now I know how all you gals felt...just waiting for your blog post!

We're finally getting our engagement pic done Sunday! Ok, three years after he asked me to be his wife...details, details, haha! We're bringing our 6 month English Bulldog puppy with us and we're doing them outside with all the beautiful autumns leaves. Do you all have any tips/photo inspirations for us with our puppy? He's got the puppy energy, but he's our fur baby! Thanks gals!
