I’ve been pretty quiet about my own engagement. When my FI proposed, he gave me a fairly simple ring, that just wasn’t my taste. I have this other stone, it’s not a diamond (please don’t make this a diamond vs. no diamond debate) that I really like. It really sparkles and shines, which is what I really like. I bought it without my FI knowing, and I’m going to talk to him about it tonight, about if he minds if I wear it instead of the ring he gave me. Once he gives the OK I’m going to have it made. So what do you ladies think? I stuck it on with a lot of double sided tape, but I made sure to take a pic outside so you could see it in the natural light!
Thanks for your help hive!

Oh, I love it it’s beautiful. I hope your FI gives you the okay. I’m laughing about the double-sided tape though!

I don’t think you should mention you already bought a stone. But that’s just me.

looks great! what kind of stone is it?
obviously you know your fi best, but mine would be upset if i went out a bought a new stone/e-ring without him knowing.

Are you going to have the stone put into the setting he gave you? Or make a completely new ring? I think his feelings will be pretty hurt if you are planning on just putting the ring he picked out for you in a box. Also if this stone is much bigger than what he got you he might feel like you’re saying he didn’t spend enough to get you the big stone you wanted.

Are you going to ask your FI for a proposal renewal with the new ring? Congrats, girl, the new stone looks fierce!

I like your stone – it’s very sparkly! Hopefully he will understand why you want a new ring and doesn’t get upset about it. Good luck!
@futuremrsthomas: I laughed about the two sided tape too! Haha!

LOL you have some balls to go buy yourself a new stone! If he is pissed about the e-ring swap out would you wear it as a right-hand ring?

@futuremrsthomas: Thanks! I’m still laughing at the double sided tape too! A little silly but the only way to get it to stick!
Thanks ladies for all the advice, I originally thought I’d wear my original ring on my right hand. @Moose1209: that’s a good idea about using the original setting. I’ll see how he feels about this whole thing first.
