So fi and I are knee deep in wedding planning and due to various life issues (cars, jobs, houses, kids, you know the usual) he hasn’t gotten around to purchasing an e-ring. We happened to go look at a local jewelery store today mainly to figure out our ring sizes and then he wandered over to look at engagement sets. I found two sets that really struck me, surprisingly neither was anything I would have every thought I’d pick! We narrowed it down to these two and he asked which one I liked better…I cannot decide! Just thought I’d throw it out there to see what others think…mainly cuz I’m just excited about the fact that I’m finally going to get an e-ring. =)
My “normal” style would be a simple solitaire like this:
However, the one that I immediately gravitated to was this one:
Then I saw this one with the black diamonds on the sides and wedding band.
The heart is definitely “my style” but there is something so stunning about the black diamonds accent stones.
Fi is concerned about the heart ring catching on things and becoming damaged because the heart ring has a bit of a “shelf” that forms the halo. I’m not sure if it will be an issue but I do love that ring! Trying to compare them is like comparing apples to oranges to me. He keeps asking me what I think and which one I’d pick if given the chance.
What do you bees think?

I’d go for the first one its very ellegant but if your heart is set on the heart shaped one that is what you should get! Congrats!

@MoopersMom: ooo tough choice! I have a heart and my dw has a black diamond! :p I think I like the heart slightly more! Good problem to have 😉

@MoopersMom: I absolutely would go for the more traditional idea of a solitare over the other two sets. Although they are different and pretty, I would be concerned that, in 10 or 15 years, you may come to regret choosing either of the other two.

I think you would eventually get sick of the heart halo.

The second and third rings aren’t my taste, so I voted for the solitaire just because it is timeless and classic, but only you really know what you like and don’t like. People are always going to have something to say about your ring whether it’s “normal” or not. I’m sure you would get comments on a heart shape, black diamonds, etc. but I’m also positive that, like everyone else on WB, you’d hear comments on the solitaire like, “is it real? why is it under 1K? was this expensive? etc.” People just don’t know when to keep their mouths shut, so in general I say go with what you love!

I’m all for traditional and would absolutely go for the solitaire.

Definitely the solitaire!

Th solitaire is classy and timeless, the others are not appealing aesthetically to my eye. (Not that that matters, but you asked for opinions!)

The heart looks like a promise ring and the other set will probably snag I have a ring like that but much smaller and it catches on everything!
