My e-ring is the Family Stone. It was set in 14K yellow gold and DH had it reset in platinum since I don't wear yellow gold. Since the ring came with a wedding band, he traded the wedding band to pay the extra expense on the reset. So, I don't think my ring cost anything!
FYI, this exact question has already been asked with results tallied.

@pamplemousse: Yes, but 0-1000 is a HUGE! gap. I like this poll more because there's a big difference between $100 and $500, and even $500 to $1,000.
@Mrs Grape: True...
here's a graph from 2007

Thanks. I looked to see if there was an ongoing poll but didn't do a "search" like I should have. lol
Still, there is more differentiation on the higher and low end for this one so hopefully it won't be completely useless. lol I have done polls where I wish I had provided more differentiation/ different choices so this will be a different look.
@Mrs Grape: Yes, but the difference between 3k and 5k is huge.
I'm not trying to rain on the parade here, but I feel compelled to remind that no limited poll like this can adequately answer such a question. And how would someone whose ring cost $2500 answer this? Rounding up puts such a ring in the same bracket as a $5k ring. I can appreciate the thought of this poll but it is sort of pointless without better defined classes.
I don't know the exact cost of my ring but I made an educated guess based on what I know of my stone and the cost to insure it! I'm pretty sure I picked the proper range.
I think rounding off is good enough. That's what I had in mind while making it. It's OK if it blends with another answer. These are just rough ideas...not class brackets...lol.
Unfortunately "ballpark" is the best we can do while keeping it reasonable. There is a big difference between $20,500 and $29,000 but we must accept that not all is perfect. It's close enough IMO. But that's just MO.
From a guy's point of view, these are the brackets I would think of...lol Each one would require new convincing to move up...lol If you are already in the over 3K, the next wake up call is over 5K...and so on...lol.
E-ring only...no bands
Yes...include tax. We are looking at how much it cost to get the ring, not value.
Yeah...you never know how much someone will pay for Jewelry. I know it is all relative but I like to chuckle sometimes when I remember Tiffanys had earings they were selling for $530K. I just thought it was funny. I wanted to see if you could just add that to your cart but it was a call one. lol At that point, I think a person should really consider holding a contest and giving someone a new home. That would be more fulfilling (IMO) than wearing a set of $530K earings...clearly you could get look alikes for a measily $20K or so (joke)...lol So you can be happy and still get someone a house...lol.
So far no big surprises...
You would feel scared and nervous at the same time.
Scared...if someone discovers the value and decides to rob you.
Nervous ...if one just falls off. It might be smart to touch you ears every 5 minutes...lol
It's funny...somebody somewhere is buying it. lol
Diamond prices have dropped considerably since FH got my ring about 6 yrs ago. Wish we had waited, I'd have a lot more bling for his hard earned cash. DH is bummed about it.
Speaking of giving houses away...
Oprah is lucky. One of the most fun feelings is giving stuff away to unsuspected strangers. Those are some of my best memories. Oprah can do that all the time...but I guess she might get bored...but it is one of the best.
there isn't a 2-3k....(or am I blind)
Mine was reasonable.....$2500
And I think the 2-3K range would be a quite popular range to include in this poll....more so than 50K....ahahah
It is funny that the prices of a lot of things have dropped. While everyone is complaining you notice home prices, interest rates, HDTVs, all gadgets, memory prices, computers, electronic scooters, bikes, guitars...everything is more affordable. As soon as the economy is fixed, things will get bad again.
Note: I know with electronics, the priced dropped because HD requirements and more people buying combined with increased technology (driving down price of older tech)...but still, I think in a better economy, they would have tried to keep prices higher for more profit.
Bottom line: Just wait...your diamond will be pricey again when things get better. lol
I considered that but I had to keep the options limited. lol
I purposely designed the earlier number to be a "round off" situation so with $2500 round up to $3k but if it was $2499, round down to $2K...lol
@Socrates: Lol yes, nervous and scared for sure! I would throw up if I lost one...Are they made out of historic egyptian gold or something?!
Drop earings in diamonds and platnum...lol
I hate to sound Amish... but there is just something sinful about it...lol When you think of it tough, somebody would say that about anything.
If you are paying rent or mortgage, I like to think of things in terms of that. "Is it worth 1 months rent/mortgage?" Some people will say something is ridiculous "e.g large TV" yet it is less than their 1 month (rent/mort) price and it would add value they could enjoy every day.
@Socrates: Wow, now I am curious...
I know what you mean about one mortgage payment etc. FI and I justify costs that way too! It would be so random if I had $530K earings with my modest house, modest car...then $530K earings....ha!
Doesn't that work to get rid of the guilt?...lol Whever it is pricey, you just think ...you just paid your monthly living bill and got no joy out of that (OK truth be told you got to have a place to sleep...lol) so you say if you are going to dish that out for no fun, how about rewarding yourself with something you enjoy.
I'm pretty sure those who buy the $530K earings have pricey houses in the millions...lol Still, IMO they would get more joy by buying a cheap quality $20K set (and still feel higher than most women...lol) then announcing they are giving away a house for $510 K to a contest winner. Once they see the true joy on the winner's face, that would be better than a compliment of "nice earings".
i'm not going to tell you how much my engagment ring costs, but i will tell you i never had an engagment ring...so you guess.
When you get up to the super high end it tells you not only about the guy but also the guy's parents. lol
For example,in order to feel comfortable spending 40-50K on a ring, that means the guy's parents are wealthy and have a lot saved away for retirement. lol Even if you make a lot, if your parents aren't wealthy, you might feel guilty that you didn't go for a 20K ring and give 20K to mom for something(if you have 20K to blow).
To really feel wealthy, you need no student loan debt and wealthy parents...lol It's not just about income.
Paid price, $25,000 and I don't know what the appraisal will be. Our custom ring is actually in the process of being made now!! Ahh!

OK. It is classy to keep your E-ring price annonymous but an annonymous poll would be interesting n'est pas?
Comments without revealing what you voted for helps keep the poll active (so it doesn't fall away) and would be appreciated.
This is the paid price...not appraisal value.
This oughta be good. Here we go.
