@Birdi:  Oh I’m sorry that’s happening to you! It’s such a pretty setting! I’m not sure how sturdy you’re looking to go, but bezel settings are probably the safest and sturdiest settings for gemstones.  They’re not everyone’s style, but I love my bezel and have never had any issues with it!

@Birdi:  Personally, I don’t love halos either bc they seem to be so common and I don’t think they do a good job highlighting a gorgeous center stone like yours. There are some bezels that do a better job of showcasing the center diamond than others, my ering is a bezel-set solitaire and it’s just a tiny bit raised above the band so that the diamond is more prominent and a my wedding band sits flush. Here’s my ring w wedding band (sorry for the blurry iPhone pic);

This is an older thread, but it has some good examples of other rings with lower profiles that may be a bit more sturdy than your current setting. I really like Chartreuse ‘s ring in post #17;  http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/any-low-profile-rings

Hope that helps, good luck!!

I have a modification of this ring from Brown Goldsmiths (I don’t have a picture of it yet, I really need to take one) and it is a fantastic setting. The two bands of metal make up the bezel setting so the ring is low profile and protects the diamond well. I think how they twist together to make up the ring is really pretty. They also have variations with diamonds set into the side bands.

@Birdi:  Thank you!! No it’s not split shank, the rose gold band in the middle is my new spacer. DH got it for me for Christmas because I’ve been lusting over the mixed metals look 🙂  I’m so sorry about your old setting, hopefully some more bees will put in their two cents and you can find a new setting that you love even more than the old one!

@Smashing:  What a gorgeous ring!
