Oh Laguna Beach is so gorgeous. Depends on the photographer as to whether s/he poses you or not, so maybe think of a couple poses so that you don’t feel on-the-spot. But as long as you are comfortable, then that will show in the photos.

As for hair and stuff, what look are you going for?

Cute! Definitely hair down for the beachy, casual look. Loose curls would be pretty! For makeup, just do what you normally do (I know this from experience….), but play up one feature (lips or eyes). It’s really only in studios with a lot of artificial light that you want to go heavy on the makeup.

@missmichigan: wear clothing that you feel comfortable in and that will photograph well. Make sure you look like yourselves. Bring props if you want to (we had an umbrella for some of our photos) I wore my hair down and natural make up because I wanted to look like myself. If you have specific locations that you want to take the pictures definitely tell your photographer that. If there is a particular detail you want photographed (like your ring or your shoes) then tell the photographer. They photographer should be able to give you direction and poses.

Haha. No, our was just a self-timer and a tripod (we were going to do a real shoot, but didn’t get our act together in time). My FI went to school for photography and I’m his defacto model, which is how I know about the makeup. Lots of trial and error and unfortunate photos in my past….LOL

ETA: Though the girls I know who have done E-sessions, about 1/2 have gotten professional hair & makeup, and 1/2 not. It’s a good excuse to get fancied up, but if you don’t want to, it’s not required 🙂

I might recommend not wearing matchy colors… Maybe put him in white and then you in a complimentary tone to your eyes or something… You can still be casual, but if you’re both wearing the same color you’re gonna miss a lot of dynamics (shadows/depth/detail) in lighting and whatnot. Also – consider more than one outfit (at least for you) – a little variation is gonna give the pictures a neat passage-of-time feel and add some character.
