I was wondering if anyone had done Electronic Save-the-Date cards, like www.paperlesspost.com?
My FI have about 4 couples that are out of town and do not find the need to send out official STD (only 50 people invited to wedding) and will send out invitations a tad early.
I would like to notify these people who have to make travel plans, but am unsure if I should just pick up the phone and call or send an e-mail.
What do you think?

I think making a phone call is much more personal.

I sent out an html email through MailChimp.com. It was super easy, just basically Date, city, and We’re gettin’ married. I also referred people to our website for more info. It also did double duty b/c I requested peoples addresses at the same time & set up a submission form for addresses. It was also pretty nice b/c a lot of people also emailed back well-wishes or posted on the message board.
ETA: Mailchimp also allowed me to track who had opened my email, so that was helpful (and also kind of exciting to stalk who hadn’t opened it yet…and allowed me to yell at people who opened it, but still hadn’t given me their addresses!)

I kind of like the idea of the phone call. I say go for it!
