I know two people who have posted before ten weeks, maybe between 5-8?? And they both lost their babies. Another friend posted at 5 weeks, last week so fingers crossed for her!

I am deffinately imthe camp off waiting until after the 12 week scan.

My cousin posted at 8 or 9 weeks and it made me super nervous. Luckily everything turned out great!

Just recently a girl I knew from high school posted that she was pregnant. I think she even included the pee test. About 2 weeks later – miscarriage, so since she had posted all over FB that she was pregnant she now had the awkward task of explaining why she was no longer pregnant.

My cousin’s wife posted before she found out. “I think I might be pregnant!!!” then “I AM! I AM PREGNANT!”

Unfortunately, she miscarried a little over a week later. However, the outpouring of support she received via FB was incredible. Still not something I’d want for myself, but it worked for her.

Oh gawd seriously? That would be so painful to watch! The earliest I’ve ever noticed anyone on my friends list posting about their pregnancy was 20 weeks (a belly pic with the caption ‘halfway there!’). Most people I know don’t post much about their pregnancies or haven’t been pregnant.

Even the’people close to you’ list is off-limits for me, for telling until after 12 weeks. Not because I think I would be too devastated about having to say “I’m not pregnant anymore” to a bunch of people, but actually because I don’t want to drag THEM on the potential emotional rollercoaster! Also my mom told me when I told her we would be TTC soon that she did not under any circumstances want to know until after 12 weeks. She said she would just be so heartbroken if she found out and then we lost the baby (probably because before me, she had a MC at 9 weeks and she had already told everybody). So I still have another 3 weeks until we can tell anybody – because seriously who could I possibly tell before my own mom!

My cousin’s husband posted when she was about 4 weeks!! When they had their 2 other kids too (before facebook) we found out very early in the pregnancy. My other cousins waited until the 12 week mark – which is what I would do as well… I would only tell people I was very close to before that.

I think I might have been pretty early with my announcement – at 9 weeks with a picture of the first ultrasound (I got excited, okay? Phmmph). Most of my friends announce anywhere between 10-14 weeks.

@ChuckNorris:  now, on twitter, i cryptically tweeted something the night I took the test and posted confirmation the next day….I figured if I lost the pregnancy there was no way it was staying off my feed as I worked through it, so why not?

FB is different; there’s family on there. I wanted to make sure we had a heartbeat before telling anyone. And I didn’t post much about the pregnancy as it progressed either :)

I saw someone post a positive test, but it was in an extremely miraculous situation (she had tragically lost her husband just two days before, she survived the accident). It was more of the excitement of this awesome reminder of him/way to carry on, but I was really nervous for her knowing that she’d announced SO early and had just been in a major accident. Thankfully, she has a happy, healthy, adorable little toddler now!
