A coworker friend of mine announced her pregnancy last week and I’d love to get a bunch of other coworkers together to throw her a surprise congrats party at my place. I was talking to another coworker and we thought it would be neat to have a mini baby shower… she will definitely be having another one probably with all friends and family, but we thought she would really appreciate this. The only thing is.. she’s not showing yet, so we don’t want to go overboard with anything too cheesy.. it’s also last minute (this friday) so we won’t be able to do anything really extravagent. Anyone have any ideas for any fun games, or other baby shower ideas ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

How far along is she? If she’s still relatively early on then a baby shower may not be the best idea. Anything can happen.

@Mrs.H2B: A bunch of my friends when I hit a milestone through me a onesie party. Each person bought me a onsie, I got some amazingly funny one’s that I can’t wait for my little man to wear. I think when you’re early doing a theme like this keeps it a little more simple.

Considering she’s early on, and you said it’s mostly congratulatory, I think it would be nice to do more of a celebratory party than a traditional shower. It would probably be nice, too, because she’ll have another shower with family, so this one will be different.
It would be fun to do sparkling grape juice in champagne glasses, and all the food could be “baby” versions of food (finger foods). Instead of traditional shower gifts, you could all pool together to get her a little basket with a GC for a prenatal massage, a pregnancy journal, and a body pillow…stuff for mom.
Look how cute these little foods are

thanks bees! There are some great ideas here. She’s far along that she’s announced it, so I’m sure it’s fine to celebrate..and I totally love that onesie idea!

You could also have everyone bring a children’s book or a pack of diapers. But I really like the idea of getting stuff for the mom since it’s a congratulatory party.

Since she will probably have showers later on, what about stuff for the mom as gifts? Cute maternity tops, a bella band? Fun nail polish and stuff like that to cheer her up when she is feeling depressed and ginormous (like I am right now)? What about certificates for a pre-natal massasge, or a day at the spa?

@MissDareDevil: I like this. maybe split a few nice tops for her as she grows.

@UpstateCait: I was thinking the same thing.
I wouldn’t throw a shower, small or otherwise, until later in a pregnancy. For sure.

@MissDareDevil: Good idea! Have a “mommy” shower, instead of a “baby” shower 🙂
