Hey guys! I’m stumped! My fiance and I want to do a getaway immediately following our wedding on 10/29. I’ve found lots of options in both Cabo and Cancun for around $2k, but I can’t decide!
-In order to fly direct on my preferred airline, leave Monday
-Avg high 83, low 62
-Have to wait till Wednesday to leave
-Avg high 84, low 73 (so still warm in evenings)
-Possible hurricane season
Has anyone been to Cabo or Cancun in early November? Or have any advice?
(Also, we’re calling this a “getaway” because we are doing Greece the summer following, but we know we need to go away immediately after the wedding! We’re just looking for sun and beach!)

well hey there date and potential honeymoon twin… we are doing Cancun and we are leaving Nov. 6th to the 13th. Neither of us have been, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for nice weather. As long as there is no hurrican we’ll be okay.

@sonj818: Airfare will probably be the determining factor, if resorts are roughly the same price. For example, from the midwest, an air ticket to Cancun is only about $400-$600 per person, whereas a ticket to Cabo for the same time & dates can run $700-$900 per person. For someone on the west coast, I image those rates would be reversed. Regardless of where you go, make sure you get cancel-for-any-reason trip insurance in case of hurricanes, illness, or whatever.

I have family that’s been to both (but during the summer) and they said both places are nice but there is more to do in cancun. If you plan on staying in the hotel/on the beach the whole time then it may be about equal. They also mentioned the ocean is warmer in cancun, although both places have nice beaches. I’d vote for cancun because it’s in the Caribbean but I’m obviously biased since that’s where we’re honeymooning.

I vote Cabo. The weather is nice and dry, you could get rain in Cancun. If you go to Cabo be sure to eat at Ediths.

We had friends go to Cancun in November right at the tail end of hurricane season. Let’s just say their beautiful walk out beach front room became more of a flooded nightmare than a relaxing getaway… If you do book don’t chance it being RIGHT on the water lol.
I’ve been all over Mexico and I would suggest going to Cabo for a honeymoon 🙂
