Hello Ladies!
Just figured I'd create a spot for us "newly" positive folks! This early part of pregnancy can be full of a lot of unexpected things and trepidation about the weeks to come. So let's support one another and put some info about ourselves:
Date of BFP: 09/11/11
Estimated Due Date: May 15, 2012
First Doctors Appt: September 20th EEK!
How are you feeling?: Tired, very tender breasts, and already beginning to get morning sickness
Advice: Don't do more than you usually would do and think positive!!
Date of BFP: 8/2/11
Estimated Due Date: 4/30/12
How Many Weeks and what fruit?: 7 weeks, 1 day! Blueberry!
First Doctors Appt: 9/26 ultrasound, 9/28 first prenatal
How are you feeling?: Comes and goes but some tiredness, nauseau, bloated after eating and starving an hour later. VERY thirsty all the time.
Advice: Listen to your body and try not to feel guilty! I'm going to try and follow my own advice!
Good idea and advice! :) I thougth it might be fun to add how many weeks and fruit we are?
@Redgerber LOVE your idea!! Anything else anyone wants to add please be my guest!
I believe I am just 4 weeks and 1 day right now and my "fruit" is Poppy Seed! lol
Hi Ladies!! I am excited to join you! I just got my BFP this morning!!
Date of BFP: 9/13/11
Estimated Due Date: May 21, 2012
How many weeks/what fruit: 4 weeks/poppy seed
First Doctor Appointment: I need to get an appointment!!
How are you feeling: Mild cramps for the last 3 days, otherwise I feel good!
Advice: Take it easy, stay hydrated and I am going to start to eat better!
I am still in disbelief that my test was positive this morning!! Did you girls call your OB/GYN right away? Do they usually want to see you at 6 weeks or later? I need to find a new OB since we have moved a year ago I have just seen my general doctor.
You should call ASAP to set up an appointment. Ask for recommendations from co-workers and any friends/family. Or even online via any local mom support forum? Don't be afraid to change OB/GYNs mid pregnancy if you're not happy with them.
And congrats!
I think I'll join in too!
Date of BFP: 9/13/11 (today!) - it was a faint line, so I'll continue testing the next couple days just to make sure I wasn't seeing things this morning.
Estimated due date: 5/25/2012
How many weeks/what fruit: 3 weeks, 4 days. Is there anything smaller than a poppyseed?
First doctor's appointment: I'm going to wait until Thursday to make an appointment (when I'll test with a "good quality" stick)
How are you feeling: minor cramps but otherwise okay. Boobs seem a little bigger - my cups were overflowing a bit, which made me test 2 days earlier than I was planning.
ETA: bloating. Definitely feeling bloated.
Advice: Just breathe! I'm definitely looking forward to water aerobics tonight to help me burn off some of this energy. And now that I got a faint pink, stay away from the leftover booze in the fridge!
I haven't told DH yet - mainly because I'm not entirely sure I believe the results myself. But here was my plan - test tomorrow with another wondfo HPT strip, if positive I'll buy a "good" test. Test Thursday morning with the good test. If positive, I was planning to go to Target to buy a cute onesie. Then I'll bring that home and give to DH as an little anniversary present (our anniversary is on Saturday). Thoughts?
Yay, there's so many new positives on the bee!
Date of BFP: 9/2/11
Estimated Due Date: May 16, 2012
How many weeks/what fruit: 4 weeks, 6 days /poppy seed
First Doctor Appointment: 9/29, I can hardly wait. I need confirmation there's something in there!
How are you feeling: So tired and thirsty, but I have a wicked cold, so that could have something to do with it too. Boobs are getting a little more tender and indegestion and nausea have been creeping in after dinner.
Advice: @nskillet: Def need to remember to think positive, it's hard not to be a little freaked out at this point.
@ms.walter: My Dr. didn't want to see me until 7 weeks, and from what I've read on the boards it varies a lot. Some want to see you at 6 weeks, some not until 8-9 weeks. I got a real faint positive at only 9dpo, so I waited a few days until I got a dark positive before I called my OB. You should try calling your regular doctor and see if they have a recommendation for OBs in the area.
@Goldilocks1107: Whay a great anniversary present! I think that's a great idea, but maybe just because I did something similar. We were supposed to leave for our anniversary trip on Labor Day weekend, so i tested the Friday before and got a positive. I wrapped up a little onesie and gave it to DH as an early anniversary present. He was a littel confused, so I had to pull out the test strip and show him.
@kiddosc: That's funny - I think my DH would flip out if I showed him a stick that had my pee on it (he's weird about things like that
). And he's already very aware AF was scheduled to arrive on Thursday so he'll be douby thrilled because there won't be anything to mess with his plans of "knockin' boots" during our weekend away.
@Goldilocks1107: Congrats!
@kiddosc: My dr. did give me a recommendation for an OB, I just need to call and make sure they accept my insurance. I did get a dark line today but I plan to test again on Thursday and then I will call to make an appointment. I have been taking folic acid the last 6 weeks and I will switch over to a prenatal starting today! I can't wait to have my first appointment and make sure everything is going ok!!
This is wonderful that so many are joining!
Congrats to Goldilocks, Kiddosc, Ms. Walter, and of course Regberdaisy!
The main theme is to remain positive, hopeful, and most importantly. HAPPY!!! What will happen, will happen, and yes early pregnancy is very scary. At least for me! I don't know what will really happen at my first OBGYN appt. They told me it was my "Pregnancy Confirmation" Appt. So I'm assuming maybe a pelvic and some other stuff. I doubt an ultrasound will occur because things are just way too early.
Also, my OBGYN doesn't partner with the hospital I want to deliver in so that also complicates matters for me! Luckily, referrals are an easy thing.
I only calculated my Due Date based on my last period cause I have absolutely no idea when we concieved!!
Has anyone shared the happy news yet? I can admit that DH and I told all our parents the day we had our positive test because we truly want/need their support should anything happen during the course of things. Plus, we were way too excited!!
Today is a day for complaining. I'm so bloated, I look like I'm 3 months pregnant. And I have unending cramps. They kept me up last night - not painful just constant and irritating.
And, when I re-tested this morning (because I don't entirely believe yesterday's BFP), BOTH tests were invalid. I've decided the wondfo test strips are useless. Of the 4 HPTs I took, 3 were invalid. And the OPK's only fared marginally better.
Off to Walgreens this afternoon to pick up a digital test.
And is anyone else having a hard time believing you're actually pregnant?!?
YES. I only truly allowed myself to believe it after taking a digital test.
And even now, yeah I have symptoms, but maybe they're like when I thought I was and over analyzing. It's starting to set in more due to the constant nausea which is not like me. But I think I'm still at like 98% and won't get to 100% till I see that little olive on the u/s!
@Goldilocks1107: I have a hard time believing it too! The symptoms kind of come and go and even when they're around, they're not really all that bothersome. But I'm only 5 weeks today, and I've heard that more people notice symptoms starting at around 6 weeks. Not that I really want morning sickness, but some sort of proof there's a baby in there would be nice.
@Goldilocks1107: I am still in disbelief! When I tested yesterday the second line came up right away and was very dark and AF is now 3 days late. I plan to do another test tomorrow but I am sure it is accurate! I am bloated and look like I am a few months pregnant too and I have had lite cramps for the last 5 days.
Thanks for starting this thread and congrats to everyone with new BFPs!
Date of BFP: 08/29/11
Estimated Due Date: May 12, 2012
First Doctors Appt: September 19!
How are you feeling?: Overall, fairly normal with the exception of a few random symptoms here and there and a nice, full rack! I have occasional light cramping. Sometimes I'm tired, sometimes not... I almost think its just lack of caffeine. This afternoon is really the first day I've had nausea that's lasted more than a few fleeting minutes but even then it hardly seems notable.
Advice: Oh brother... I'm definitely not someone who needs to be giving advice. I'm still having a hard time listening to my own, which is to think positive and take things one day at a time - but its a lot easier said than done.
I know one symptom I'm terrified of is morning sickness. I have a 30-45 minute commute and I'm scared that the urge to puke will hit when I'm driving 70 mph down the interstate.
Anyone else have a symptom they fear?
Oh and I picked up the CBE digital test today so I'm hoping I'll get a big "pregnant" tomorrow morning to confirm what wondfo told me yesterday.
@Goldilocks1107: I second morning sickness. You'll have to commute armed with barf bags! My worst nightmare is that I'll be crammed in-line at the grocery store and have to toss my cookies but have nowhere to go.
Good luck tomorrow morning!!
@Goldilocks1107: I had some terrible morning sickness come out of no where this afternoon. I ended up running to the bathroom at work twice and barely made it through the afternoon! I also have a 45 minute commute and traffic was terrible today due to the rain! The only thing that saved me was putting the windows down to get some fresh air!
@ms.walter: Glad I'm not the only one freaked out about the commute.
And, digital test this morning says: PREGNANT!
Now I just have to tell DH
Date of BFP: September 2nd
Estimated Due Date: May 10, 2012
First Doctors Appt: I've had a blood test, likely just to confirm pregnancy, but didn't see a doctor. My first prenatal appointment is September 29th because all the other dates conflicted with my work schedule....even though I hardly ever work (supply teacher).
How are you feeling?: Honestly, it's been so much worse than I ever imagined. I've had lots of digestive issues (constipation but not anymore, painful gas, bloating). And my sleep is suffering (wake up in the night to pee....can't get to sleep again due to the gas pains). I'm also cranky. I think I'm also starting to get nausea when I haven't eaten for 4 hours.
Advice: Avoid my posts, as I feel like I'm nothing but complaining.
Sharing news: I told DH right away. Then I emailed my 3 best friends from highschool (since they know we were TTC). Then I had a really bad emotional day on the BFP day and ended up spilling the beans to a friend who isn't even a good friend. But other than those people no one knows. Well, maybe more people know. (see below)
I live in a small town, and I went to the pharmacy to ask if I could use GasX to treat my gas pain. But when I asked, a highschool girl who worked there could overhear me....and she knows me. (I'm a dance teacher at the studio she dances at). Oh small towns. By the way, GasX is a no-no.....birth defects. Just have to suck it up and deal. Glad I asked though.
@Goldilocks1107: Congrats!! Nothing like a digital test to put your mind at ease! I tested again this morning with another First Response test and two lines popped up right away! I am going to make an OB appointment today.
@LAGS: Congrats!!!
@cvbee:I hope you start to feel better! Maybe your dr. can recommend something at your first appointment if the issue haven't resolved yet.
@Goldilocks1107: Congrats on the BFP!! I'm terrified of my commute when the MS sets in too. I drive an 1.5 hours each way. I'm definitely going to have to arm my car with some bags. But then do I have to sit in the car with a bag of puke for an hour... I feel like that won't help the situation, ugh.
@cvbee: I'm sorry symptoms have been hitting you hard, but at least you know there are plenty of hormones at work in there growing that baby! My first appt. is on the 29th too. I asked and they said they'd do an ultrasound that day, so I'm hoping to see the heartbeat!
Has anyone noticed body aches at all? I feel like I did a major butt workout and my muscles are sore. I've also noticed a little achiness in my hips. It seems like it would be too early for any of that, no?
@ms.walter: Thanks and congratulations to you too! Have you had any luck scheduling your first prenatal appointment?
@kiddosc: I haven't noticed anything in my butt/hips, but my lower back has felt pretty tight. Also, if I stretch my stomach the wrong way it almost feels like I've pulled a muscle/have a charlie horse in my stomach. Not fun!
@cvbee: Congrats and I hope you start to feel a little more comfortable soon!
Date of BFP: 09/7?8?9?/11
Estimated Due Date: May 20, 2012, according to O date, online. So, I lied about my LMP at the doctor's office instead of describing in detail my long cycles. I will tell the doctor when I actually meet her.
Weeks, and size: 4w 4 d--poppy seed
First Doctors Appt: ? None yet. 9/13/11 was the in office pregnancy test with the lab and meet the nurse. 9/29/11 is my "OB Registration." According to the appointment desk, I probably will have a first appointment at 6-8 weeks due to my earlier miscarriage. So.... 9/26/11 to 10/10/11, interesting I will be 6 weeks at OB registration, so likely I'll try to scheduel for 10/7/11 to 10/11/11.
How are you feeling?: Tender breasts--oddly enough especially on the side and my armpits; quesy after eating, always hungry yet quickly full when I eat; tummy grumbling, hip and pelvic cramps, weird CM. Moody!
Advice: Don't freak out? (I need to take this advice!)
Sharing news: I told my husband first, then my grandma and then my mom and dad. I realized after breaking the news of the miscarriage last time, it would be easier to tell them right away this time. No one else but the buzzing bees know. I'll tell my MOH in about 2 or 3 weeks, and everyone else around Thanksgiving --so that means family first and then friends (14-5 weeks?). And facebook when I feel like it. My husband is anxious to tell facebook and will tell them when I say my whole family knows. He has told his boss (so he can get time off to come to doctor appointments with me--I have not told mine yet!) and one friend at work. Don't know if he told his parents.
@Goldilocks1107:I have puke bags in my car for this reason. I have an hour commute each way. :( I may buy a bucket, or something more rigid that a simple bag. Now go tell your husband the good news! YAY!
@cvbee:Complain away--then I don't feel so bad about doing it, too.
From the military clinic, the OK ones are:
Headaches: Tylenol, Tylenol PM, Datril
Cold: Tylenol, saline nose spray, Robitussin (no alcohol), Benadryl
Allergies: Claritin, Zyrtec, Allegra
Constipation: Metamucil, Fiber-All, Miralaz, Milk of Magnesia
Indigestion: Tums, Rolaids, Maalox, Mylanta II, Simethicone
Heartburn: Zantac, Pepcid, Prilosec
Hemorrhoids: Preparation H, Anusol
Nausea/Vomiting: Vitamin B6, Emetrol, Unisom, ginger, sea sickness bands
AVOID EVERYTHING ELSE,
Especially AVOID aspirin, motrin, ibuprofen, tetracycline, accutane. (AVOID THESE)
The same sheet also says avoid cat litter, dry cleaning chemicals, x-rays (except dental x-rays are OK, all other x-rays must be approved by your OB), children's sandboxes (cats may poop in them), gardening without gloves, working with lead or mercury, working with radiation or radioisotopes.
Not sure if any of the indigestion ones work for gas.
And Zyrtec is better than Allegra (according to my allergist.
Sad news today - my grandma passed away. Found out at work. Nothing quite as embarrassing as crying in your boss's boss office (man, what a time for my manager to be in an all afternoon meeting . . . ).
Now that means tonight's convo with hubby will be: cry, cry, cry. *wipe snot off nose* "I do have some good news though . . ."
Funeral is sometime next week, so I'll probably be MIA from the bee for awhile.
@Goldilocks1107: I'm so sorry to hear you lost your Grandma :( Take care of yourself and wishing your family well.
@Goldilocks1107:YES! I love it! Get that onesie. Are you going to get a patterned one, or a plain one and write on it?
ETA: I did not read your other post.
I am so sorry for your loss! My thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time.
Date of BFP: August 20th
Estimated Due Date: May 7, 2012
How Many Weeks and what fruit?: 7 weeks and 1 day. A blueberry.
First Doctors Appt: I had an appt on August 23rd to confirm, then an appointment this past Tuesday for my ultrasound. I go back in a month for another appointment.
How are you feeling?: Today has been rough. I've been in bed all day feeling tired and so nauseous. I have zero appetite and drinking anything makes me feel worse. I also have sore boobs and I've been so emotional.
Advice: I'm not one to give advice right now!
@ Goldilocks I'm so sorry for you loss. I also lost my great grandmother this week, and it is such a bittersweet feeling when you've got amazing news but sad news clouding things. I decided to share with my parents our happy news and it really lifted their spirits. I'm convinced my nana is looking down on me and wishing us well.
I'm so glad a lot of bees continue to get positives and post here. I think I'm officially 5 weeks as of Wednesday! Been feeling much more sick as the days go on (especially in the AMs) exhaustion/fatigue after long days is incredibly hard!
How Many Weeks and what fruit?: 5 Weeks Sesame Seed!
Anyone have their first few appts yet? What to expect?!
Yay, I can join this thread!!
Date of BFP: 09/16/2011
Estimated Due Date: May 27, 2012.
Weeks, and size: not quite 4 wks - smaller than a poppyseed!
First Doctors Appt: Had bloodwork today and then will have repeat blood test next week to make sure my HCG is increasing appropriately. Have a prenatal oritentation on 9/20/11. First appt with midwife is 10/20 (heartbeat and maybe ultrasound) and first appt with doctor is 11/1 (ultrasound if not done at 10/20 appt).
How are you feeling?: Hungover. That's the best way to describe it! Really tired and feel like I have a cloudy head. A little crampy and hungry. Dying for caffeine!
Advice: Stay positive and don't freak out. I think that's someone else's advice, but I'm going with it!
Sharing news: I told my husband first (he was laying in bed), then called my mom and dad, then my sister, and my brothers. I also told my two best friends. Like @pastemoo, I suffered a miscarriage back in May and know that if something happens with this pregnancy, I will want and need all of their support! We'll probably wait to tell MIL and SIL for a week or so until I get my blood results back. I will tell close friends as I see them. Most everyone knows about my miscarriage and that we've been trying again so everyone is expecting it. Probably will tell other family and friends around Thanksgiving and my work sometime thereafter.
@winniewolf: Congratulations and Welcome!!
Also, I'm really sorry for your loss. Its hard to see that on this thread alone there are a few who've experienced a m/c (I did this spring @ 11weeks), but on the brighter side I hope that we can all offer each other some much needed support until things get a little less scary!
@LAG - thank you. I'm sorry for your loss, too. I'm trying not to let it dominate my thoughts...I think I'll feel better after I get my bloodwork back next week.
@pastemoo - so excited to join you guys too! fun that our TWW thread turned into this thread! PS I saw your question about determining EDD on the other thread. I think they re-calculate your DD after your first ultrasound because they can see how big the baby is. so for example person A and person B might have started their period on the same day, but person A ovulated a whole week before person B so even though they have the same EDD, they actually conceived a week apart and therefore their real due dates would be a week apart. does that make sense?
So, I really don't have any symptoms! I have had some mild cramping off and on but that's really it. Yesterday I was frequently hungry (like every few hours) and I was pretty tired last night and this morning. My boobs aren't even sore yet. I want some symptoms as proof this is happening! Anyone else feel this way?
Date of BFP: August 25th
Estimated Due Date: April 25, 2012...I think it could be earlier though, as I was on BC and had a very short/weird period in July.
How Many Weeks and what fruit?: 8 weeks, rasberry!
First Doctors Appt: I have not been to the doctor yet, but we have our first appointment with the midwife on Tuesday. We are both very excited to get everything all checked out.
How are you feeling?: I was totally exhausted, but lately have had energy again. I had no appetite and lost about 10lbs, but slowly it's coming back to me and I am able to eat. No MS, but terrible gas and constipation.
Advice (for myself): Just because you don't have MS does not mean you don't have other symptoms. There is no need to worry!
Sharing news: FI knew that I thought I might be, and he would not let me take the test without him there. My two BF's also knew that I would be taking a test that day, so we called to tell them. Waited until Aug 29th (my birthday) to tell one of my sisters, and then the following weekend, to tell the rest of our family. Once family was told, FI posted on facebook that he was going to be a Dad because he was so excited and figured that immediate family and close friends knew, so he might as well tell everyone. I told my boss at work this week, but not everyone in the office knows yet.
Just wanted to pop in and say congrats to all of you little mamas:) I'm hoping to join you one of these days:)
@winniewolf: I haven't had many symptoms yet either. I have had mild cramps and some bloating but I really thought that was AF coming soon! I have been a little more tired than usual but nothing obvious like sore boobs or anything! I did get sick a few days ago but I think it was due to the migraine I had and that I didn't eat much that day.
