I have read that early pregnancy symptoms are caused by the same horomones as PMS symptoms. If you had early pregnancy symptoms did you also have bad PMS? The reason I ask is that I never really had PMS symptoms at all that I can remember. I’d get cramps occasionally and maybe some irritablity (but doesn’t every teenage girl), but they were never bad enough for me to take anything for them. But, I never got the bloating, headache, etc.

@Sugaree: A lot of symptoms can be exactly the same as pregnancy symptoms. I have convinced myself I was pregnant many times, despite being on the pill. If you’re worried, buy a test. My time of month is always bad.. but yeah, at the times where I thought I was pregnant, I did feel bloated, nausea, stomach pain, etc. all very similar to when I have my period.

@canarydiamond: I also had myself convinced many times that I was pregnant when I actually wasn’t. I’d get all these weird symptoms that made me sure.
Normally, I get mild PMS symptoms (mildly tender breasts a couple days before my period, one day of crankiness, maybe a pimple here or there).
The month I actually was pregnant, my PMS symptoms were exactly the same as when I’d expect my period. So I was pretty surprised to see 2 pink lines on the pregnancy test!

My PMS symptoms and early pregnancy symptoms match up pretty well, too. The ONLY thing that was different the month I got my BFP was that my cramps were one-sided, which is pretty unremarkable.

I was wondering this myself. I’m on the pill but recently I’ve been on anti-biotics a lot (most recently I was on for two weeks straight until a week ago). I’ve always had a light period (lasts for a day, then a bit of spotting for about a day and then gone) but this month it came a day late and it’s not much at all. My tummy feels weird and crampy, I never get cramps at all. I’m also extremely cranky and more tired than usual.
But I’m 99.9% sure it’s all in my head. I feel like I’m stupid for even thinking otherwise.

My pregnancy symptoms were EXACTLY like my pms symptoms…to the point where I brought a whole box of tampons on a weekend trip bc i knew I was going to “start any second” Crazy.

I got angry at my first BFP, because I thought the test was defect and had given me a false positive/evap line.

The only difference for me was the heartburn. I never got heartburn before so it def made me think. Also my PMS cramps usually start 2 days before AF is due and this time they started a week before.

@roxy821: Ok, now I’m really wondering because last night I had heartburn. But I do suffer from anxiety so it could be that too.

@Lyndzo: Its probably all in your head. I could read everyones list & say the same thing and i know im not pregnant! lol

I also would convince myself I was pregnant when I was not because I had all the PMS symptoms that were also pregnancy symptoms. Since I was so worried about it at the time, I would get nauseous thinking about it, and then convince myself the nausea was also a symptom. If you’re anything like me, you will get your period a few hours after taking the test. Has anyone else experienced this body irony?
