apostrophecatastrophe :  Hoping the best for you!  If the worst does happen, as it did for me, I have a little advice.  What you would be dealing with is a ‘missed miscarriage’; the baby stopped growing due to a chromosomal abnormality and your body didn’t expel it.  At that point you would have three options.

1. Wait for your body to recognize the loss and let everything happen naturally (this could happen at any time and I’ve heard it can be incredibly painful).

2. Chemical Termination (This allows you to avoid having a surgical procedure and allows for you to control when the termination happens…from what I’ve read it’s rather painful and it can take a few days for the process to be complete).

3. D&C (This is the one I chose, it’s a simple procedure and you’ll be pretty much back to normal the next day.  If you can choose and are comfortable with it, I would suggest General Anesthesia or Twilight).

I was freaking out when my baby that was supposed to be 9 weeks showed up as 6 on a routine Ultrasound back in February.  I did a ton of research and went back and forth with my OB for several days before deciding on the d & c.

Sorry you’re going through this and I wish you the best!  I’m hoping you’re in the 2% and I wasted my time with my advice.

apostrophecatastrophe :  I was happy to read your HCG went up since the last time.  That is definitely good news.  They never tested my HCG and I made my decision so quickly and wish I would have waited the way you are.  Even 2% is enough to hold on to and they never gave me any opinion of hope…the weeks after as I researched my heart out trying to understand what happened and why, I saw many others in my position going in for frequent HCG testing and found several stories from women who simply ovulated later than originally expected and gave birth to perfectly healthy babies.  I hope that this works out for you.  Hang in there!

I’m sorry you still have no answers but also glad it wasn’t bad news. I hope next week you can see a heartbeat.

apostrophecatastrophe :  I’m so sorry to hear of what happened.  It’s really tough.  I hope the procedure goes smoothly and you recover quickly.  I had my missed miscarriage & d&c in February and just found out last week that I am pregnant again.  We wanted to wait till July but I drink wine so it happened a little sooner than expected.  I’m sure you’ll bounce right back with a viable pregnancy. Wishing you the best!
