I just cut out little strips of paper and wrote everyone's name on each one. then i grouped them into family's and who knows who.... then just started clumping people together until i got groups of 8-10. it was a little time consuming but was easier than i thought...
Thanks MrsT2Bee for the quick feedback. I guess what I'm more confused about is once you settle out where you think everyone should fit, what's the easiest way to communicate that. I need to talk to my venue to see if they have table numbers for us. And then I need some sort of chart or way to let people know...
I'm not sure what's the best way to do this.
Oh well, you can either list the tables with names underneathe. ie...
Table 1
name
name
name
name
or list all the names in alphabetical order, and put their table number beside. ie...
name - table 3
name - table 2
name - table 12
name - table 3
if you dont' have table numbers you could provide a map of the room, and inside the circles (representing each table), write peoples names. then they can either sit anywhere at the table, or you can have place cards at each seat.
normally it would be on a big board outside of the room, maybe see if you have access to an easle (sp?).

We made a spreadsheet using Google Docs. It listed each table and the people we wanted to put at it below. That way, when discussing where people should sit with my mom or my fiance, they could pull the spreadsheet up, too, and see what I was seeing. It was really helpful and easy to cut-and-paste to move folks around.

Hello - I'm interested in hearing what has been the easiest way of doing a seating chart at the wedding. I've found Martha's tools and it looks like that will work great for figuring out where to seat everyone. I guess I'm more interested in how to carry it out - how to let people know where they are headed.
Any tips would be great! Thanks!
