If anyone else is in the RCIA like me, March 30th will be here before we know it. I’m very excited to finally be baptized, be confirmed, and to receive holy communion that night. 🙂
But my question is this, dress code. They explained that we are to wear nice church clothes, and if women wear dresses they have to be an appropiate length. Good. But am I allowed to wear white? I found this beautiful dress that is church appropiate, has some lace, and its a darling white/cream color. We’re being baptized by drippling water, not by immersion.
Is it too much? I’m 23. I like the symbolism behind the color white, after all becoming pure and will becoming one with God. Just wanted to know what colors others on here wore to their baptism, as an adult.
I know this isn’t important, but I’m just curious, and dont wanna stick out like a sore thumb if white is only reserved for the children.

@amberdk: I think you can wear whatever you want as long as its church-appropriate. When I went through RCIA, I wore a coral colored dress with a cardigan over it at Easter Vigil. Although I didn’t wear white, I think the dress you are describing sounds lovely and would be perfectly appropriate.
Enjoy the Mass – its so beautiful and special.

I think white would be perfectly acceptable. And if you are feeling a little uncomfortable about all white, maybe pair it with a color cardigan.

My RCIA leader encouraged us to wear white, so I’d say go for it!

You can totally wear white! I’ve been to at least a dozen Easter Vigil masses and I’m always excited when the candidates wear white. Congrats!!
