    I did the Eastern with my FI and had such an amazing time. I would definitely do that one. you have so much to do in san juan and st. thomas.

    If more of the stops on the Western are new to you guys, that is the one I would do, especially since it is cheaper. I have been on the Western that you are looking at and DH and I have recently booked our Eastern (to those same ports, same times too) for December. Which ports have you been to on the Eastern? I loved my Western Caribbean cruise. Saw the Mayan Ruins in Tulum and went to Senor Frogs in Cozumel, swam with stingrays in Grand Cayman and toured the island, hung out at a little lagoon on Isla Roatan (an extremely poor but beautiful island) and went snorkeling on a little island off of Belize. Does the ship make a difference to you?

    cozumel is beautiful! when we stopped there my husband and i rented a jeep wrangler for $60 and drove around the island – we found tons of little secluded beaches and several little bars that had hammocks and hardly any people – i loved it.

    but i voted eastern – st. thomas is freaking amazing! and could do without the bahamas -been there done that a few times –  but san juan would be awesome so full of history, beautiful colors and amazing culture ! and turks and caicos well what better place to go for white sandy beaches right?

    I have been on 6 cruises and prefer the eastern everytime! The islands are much nicer, cleaner, and the beaches are much better!!

    Unfortunately we arent going to Tortola. Our itinerary is the same as the one for the Eastern cruise you are considering. I am most excited for St Thomas and San Juan. San Juan has a lot of history and you can see the rainforest and Ive heard St Thomas has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. I would honestly look up reviews of the different ports/itineraries on Cruise Critic (cruisecritic.com) to help you decide.

    We are doing the exact same eastern caribbean itinerary for ours in October. I have been wanting to do an Eastern itinerary for so long. I think you and your FI need to think of what kinds of activities you would like to do while on your cruise and then see if the cruiseline offers excursions like that. If you want to do something like zip linings, definitely do the Western, because there won’t be many options on the Eastern itinerary. I think if you look at what you want to do and research what these ports have to offer, it will help you with your decision.

    As for me and FI, we are really excited for the eastern itinerary because of all the ports.

    @STBSchmidt:

    A Carnival representative told me that the Western Caribbean has better beaches, so that is the one that I am doing. Guess I’ll see in Novemeber!!!

    Good luck!!

    I have been looking too.However I have heard that if u are new to cruising,which we are,do the carribean first.Then spread out from there.

    So I started looking about WHERE in the CARib. I was gonna do the west but I have heardl,I dont remember where I read it,but that the ports and places are more dirty and scariar then the eastern side.

    I dont know if all that is true,but I HAVE heard from news sources that there is growing trouble in Jamaica.U can probably google it,but there is a new kind of violence in that country.Beheadings.Im not kidding!

    I might be silly for thinking this way,but from what I read I wou;d feel safer not going to that country.

    @Earlybride:  Yep. I read on the Carnival website that people who got off the ship in Jamaica were mugged, ambushed, and the people there agressively followed them and demanded money.

    Cozumel and Grand Cayman are absolutely awesome and beautiful.  In Grand Caymen they have this sand bar way out in the middle of the ocean where the water is as crystal clear as a swimming pool.  At the sand bar they have these tame stingrays you get to swim around with and feed.  It was soo fun!  In Cozumel I got to do a beginning SCUBA experience where the SCUBA place had their own bar and grill on the beach once you got out of the water.  The island was beautiful and the beaches and water were just as nice as other places.

    Our honeymoon cruise is 5 days, and goes to Cozumel and Progesso. I’ve never really heard too much about Progresso…but I am looking forward to the cruise.
