I think I believe in the 'bad omen' idea. Buying it from someone who is selling it because the marriage didn't work to me isn't a good idea. Something passed down from a family member or something is one thing but I wouldn't like the idea of wearing someone else's ring, especially someone I don't know. If cost is an issue, just google exactly what you want and look through some different vendors. Try froogle.com - google's shopping comparison site - and search for just what you're looking for and compare costs.
There have been a couple of threads about this, but I can't seem to find them... honestly, I don't believe in "juju" or "auras" or "luck"... that being said, I'd like to have something special made just for me! Etsy has so many amazing things at resonable prices, I'd look around there first before hitting ebay! Ebay is waaaaay too overwhelming for me.
I have an estate ring- the history of which is unknown. It doesn't bother me that it might have been someone's.
Sometimes you can find new items on ebay...it doesn't mean you're getting a used ring.
To me, a used wedding band would probably bother me, but if it's not an issue to you, go for the good deal!
That said, we got our rings off of Ebay new and love them :)
I don't think it would bother me at all - but I'm not a believer in "bad omens".
I wouldn't be concerned about bad juju. I believe that YOUR actions/choices determine your path in life and I don't believe that tangible inanimate objects carry with them any universal power. That being said, I'd be concerned about getting what you paid for on EBAY... it isn't really like going to a reputable company like bluenile... ya know? But if you could somehow satisfy the "getting what you paid for" part of it, i think it would be fine.
Both my engagement ring and wedding band are estate pieces. I would have no problem buyin a "used" ring. Even if it came from a broken relationship, you could look at it as giving it a second chance at a happy ending.
Personally, I would not want a used ring unless it was passed down from a family member. It may be silly, but I totally buy into the whole "bad omen" of using a ring from someone else's failed marriage. even if it IS a great deal.
anyone else here ever watch buffy? When anya says diamonds are excelent for cursing? I am such a dork but i was thinking of a used diamond and that made me think maybe bad vibes not such a good idea. like I said, huge dork.

It never occured to me, but I think I'm going to browse ebay. What do you think? Is a used ring a bad omen or a good deal? I'd be looking at gold bands with no stones.
