Ok, so I've been looking everywhere for a wedding gown. I'm a plus sized woman , with unique measurements.(Very top heavy)..lol..I've tried David's Bridal and I found a gown I thought was cute. I found a gown on Ebay that I absolutely love, but its one of those "made custom from China" Stores. Very affordable as far as I know, but has anyone ever bought or seen a dress from one of these online stores? The feedback scores seem to be great. I'm just a little scared about international purchases......
I saw that when browsing ebay this morning. I would be curious to know if anyone has used them too. They look good in the photos...
The one I saw was only about $200, so I guess if it turned out bad you wouldn't be out TONS of money right!?
Some gals on another wedding site have used it with either great success or crappy results. It all depends on how much you really expect it to look like the dress the model is wearing- they are usually cheaper materials, less quality sewing, but the measurements are custom-fit to you.
I had a dress made from Ebay. I showed them the dress from every angle (I had gone to a store and tried it on) and they made it and sent it to me. I love it and it looks 98% like the real dress. Best of all, it was $250! I think the best thing about it was that it was custom fit to my size so I don't need to do any alterations. Of course, the real dress will always look better, but I'm not that into dresses and I love my dress.
PM me if you want the name of the Ebay store I used.
mrs. Tulip is an ebay expert, and she wrote a great series on buying a wedding dress on ebay that may be helpful!

Hi,
I don't know if this helps, but I think with ebay, it's a black and white thing. It either turns out fabulous or it's a complete disaster.
If you can find someone who has bought from an ebay vendor and had a good experience I say go for it. As long as you get references.
I got my dress from an online bridal shop but only after getting the referral from my cousin. She ordered hers from them and I was blown away at the quality and the fit.
The do custom made wedding dresses and they don't charge for making them right to your measurements. My cousins fit her right out of the box. She only paid around $300 and it fits her like a glove, the only alterations she had to have was a bustle and her mom is a pretty good seamstress so she was able to get that done no charge.
I hope this helps.

I think it just depends on who you buy from, i'd pick someone who has done alot of business with alot of positive feedback. I think you should try it, for a couple of hundred bucks you wouldn't be out too much if it turned out bad. I got both my dresses on ebay for under 200.
Treasure, just be extra careful if you have unusual measurements and buy on ebay. Try contacting the seller first to see about a return policy if it doesn't fit, and I'd recommend not paying any more than you could afford to lose if it's a total disaster and you can't return it.
Then again, if you found a dress that you LOVE in person and you know fits and flatters your body, Ebay away! Just find it in your size or bigger and order away. It's just so tough to order something sight-unseen. It might look great in a picture and not work on your own body.
Good luck! Let us know if you find a gem or a wonderful seller!
I wrote this post earlier about my experience buying a dress online- my experience was amazing! To sum it up, I bought my dress online direct from China and they were able to custom make it to my size, add a train (the original dress didn't have one) and ship it to me all for under $300 and in less than two months! Like I said, I had a great experience and would reccommend it to anyone!
Hi Bees,
In the post that I put on this thread, I gave out the wrong info on the price that my cousin paid for her dress. She actually paid $459, but she did have her dress custom made and she worked with the designer from the website that I mentioned. Sorry about that.
Well I ordered the dress and it cost about $188.00 I'm just waiting to recieve it...I'll let you all know when I get it...I'm extremely nervous. I just know if it sucks, I'll just go to Davids and get my 2nd choice dress..Wish me luck!!
I bought a dress from Ebay (Julius Bridal) and it was a disaster. It was listed as a regular size 12, and was clearly bridal size 12. The quality of the material was cheap and the construction was horrible. There was a bow in the center and it was totally off centered! The lace was ripped, and there were stains all over it. The color was completely different than the one in the photo on the listing, and it was clearly NOT the same dress (different ribbon, different lace pattern, etc). Luckily, they have a US store, so I called them and was able to return it with shipping paid.
So... good luck!
Good luck, treasure! Please post pics when you get it! I'd love to see how the eBay gown comes out!
AlissaI'm sorry your ebay experience wasn't good! That's a good warning for other brides. Thank goodness they were willing to take the return! That's why it's always good to know the return policy before you buy!! :)
