For sure cookies....but my FI just peeked over my shoulder and said "trail mix". Could you do half cookies and half trail mix (cookies for the ladies and trail mix for the men)???
I think the trail mix would be easier for you guys to make because you can just dump it in, although I would honestly be equally happy with either.
I like the packaging of the cookies better, and I know they're a crowd pleaser and would be super cheap to do since we regularly keep bulk baking supplies on hand.
But I'm a sucker for a pun and wanted to incorporate FI's huge love of horses in somehow. I like the tag of the trail mix better. Hmm...
I think both are good. I'd probably rather eat a cookie but I love the pun too so I voted for that. If I were you, I'd go with whatever is cheaper (prob cookies)
Hmmm... could you make trail mix cookies (I might have a recipe for them), that way you could still use the tag "Happy Trails to you" (so cute, btw)?
Cookies. And not only because I love them, but also to avoid any nut allergy people. Mmmmmm cooookkiiiieeessss. Nom. Nom. Nom.
If your reception ends before 6 p.m., I would rather have a cookie. If it's a later wedding, though, there's nothing like late-night trail mix. I wouldn't want something as sweet as a cookie late!
I have to go with cookies. I can honestly say that I don't know many people who don't love cookies.
I like cookies, but I loooove the pun of 'happy trails', lol! I'd be the nerd giggling over it, and nudging other folks to make sure they 'got' it. I like a PPs suggestion of doing trail mix cookies, or like you said you preffered the cookie packaging, maybe you could put the trail mix in a small baggie, and then put the baggie in the box???
@jo.lee: Ceremony starts at 5:30pm, so definitely a late wedding.
@Wonderwoman217: I am totally that person, too. FI got me a valentine card this year with two green olives that said, of course, "olive you." :)
@Miss Smurf: Brilliant! Looking into this now!
@In the media: I was concerned about this. I don't actually know if we have any nut allergies or not. But trail mix cookies would be oatmeal, raisins, choc chips, and cranberries and I could leave the nuts out. I think that would be less obvious than leaving the nuts out of actual trail mix. That would cover all bases, yes?
I would prefer trail mix ... or monster cookies (which have everything in them that is in trail mix pretty much).
I like the idea of offering both too.
I love the trail mix tag line, but I would be worried about nut allergy like InTheMedia said, so my vote went to cookies.
Cookies hands down...
Normally I'd vote cookies, but I actually think trail mix will last better than the cookies. If you don't eat the cookies within a day or two, they're just not very good. Trail mix will stay tasty for days.
Yay!!! Here is a recipe in case you are having problems finding one (I love Betty Crocker!!). And it's super easy to substitute the nuts for something else in case you are worried about nut allergies (@In_the_media: good thinking !!)

Who can resist cookie?!? (I actually just took some peanut butter ones out of the oven, mmm!)
Cookies and note if any peanuts, soy, gluten, etc, is in the cookies! =)
Where do you plan on getting your boxes, or have you already?! Ive found some favor boxes with lids on Ebay 100 for $39.99. Hoping to find a better deal if possible. OrientalTradingCompany.com has some but they just the thin glossy cardboard ones, which is totally fine too, considering people are going to EAT and TOSS! =)
chocolate covered cookie "bites" mixed with trail mix...mmmmm
@Amaryllis: I like the trail mix because you nailed it on the head....I love a good pun!

@CupCakeMeg: Haven't decided on the boxes and such yet until I know for sure what to put in them; that pic is from smartyhadaparty but it's just about the same price as you found, like $35 for 100?
Thanks for all the ideas!

We're making our favors. Which would you rather get?
Trail mix with tag that says "Happy Trails, XOXO, Amaryllis and Fiance" in baggies probably packaged something like this but with a black and white bow:
Or homemade cookies (sugar, choc chip), 2 in a box like this with just "Thank you, XOXO, Amaryllis and Fiance"
