SO and I have been planning our vacation and are planning on doing a bit of island hopping in the Caribbean and we just saw this place which can only be accessed by boat and looks just amazing (completely isolated bliss!!) and he was like 'a proposal there would beat all your other friends (he has a thing about wanting to beat the other proposals!)...

Yes I am, we are going to New York to celebrate my 30th Birthday and we'll be getting engaged there too. I'm so excited.
I had a vacation proposal on 10/11/12. We were on a road trip of the east coast, and e proposed to me on a beach on Maine. It was perfect and made the vacation that much more special! Hope you get enaged on your vacation :)
@Cory_loves_this_girl: that sounds lovely! I love the idea of having a special place (destination) that you can visit again and have all the wonderful reminders :) I hope we get engaged too!!!! Lol

@Soon2BD-CBee: I have literally no idea... But now youve opened thst can of worms(!)-He would love the Galapagos (which is pretty high on my list) but our absolute dream would be French Polynesia or Bora Bora. but also the Indian Ocean islands (Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles) before they sink!! Haha we are big on scuba diving so wherever it will have to have a reef!! :-))
FH took me to Hamilton Island to propose! It was beautiful! We went hiking and got to a spot overlooking the islands and ocean and then he popped the question, seriously beautiful.
As a side note, I think it's normal for guys to want to 'beat' other people with the rings and proposals lol.
Once I was engaged I was so excited that I told a random stranger I was making small talk with and that's what she said lol. She said our honeymoon would have to be a pretty big one to top the proposal vacation.
We got engaged while on a caribbean cruise almost exactly a year ago. It was 2am on the top deck with just the two of us in the middle of the ocean. It was perfect :)
We actually put off our honeymoon just so we could be cruising again on the one year anniversary of our engagement.

I'm hoping for a destination proposal this year as well! We'll be traveling starting next week (eek!) until mid-May, visiting 14 countries, so he'll have tons of opportunities. We're spending Valentine's day on a boat in Ha Long Bay, and our 3 1/2 year anniversary is coming up this month. He's been dropping hints like crazy for a couple weeks, but he's done that before. And I'm 90% sure he doesn't have a ring. But who knows!

I had a vacation proposal too, on the beach in Aruba last November. I absolutely loved it and it's so great knowing that one day we'll go back to that same spot and re-live the moment!
Maybe?!!! I LOVE Harry Potter as it was a huge part of my early teen years and we are going to England in May where the studio the movies were filmed is. Being in the real Great Hall will be the best day of my life only made better by a grand magical proposal :-). Then we are off to Isle of Man to see his sister. Crossing my fingers because i have no idea when hes proposing other than its happening this year. We both want it to be a surprise.
@QueenSP11: That sounds amazing. Getting engaged where Harry Potter was filmed would be so cool. Lots of my friends would be jealous. They are big Potternerds. The great hall is so lovely, it looks stunning on the films. Whereever your engagement happens I hope it's magical.
I rec'd a vacation proposal also. For Valentine's Day, FI booked us a cruise to the Bahamas in May. I had no idea a proposal was coming (I had hoped & even found WB by searching keywords in Google). Once there & engaged, I told so many random strangers...lol. I was so freakin excited.

@Wonderfully: Heck no its not wrong. That's what men do..DRIVE US CRAZY to arrange our own proposals lol. It was actually advice from WB that saved me from being all crazy before the cruise. I was trying all sorts of ways to find clues, etc. Nada, zilch...this guy's mouth was locked up like friggin Fort Knox.
I do wish youluck though, at least your man mentioned SOMETHING about the trip. My proposal didn't fit my personality but it fits his..and he did it when he was ready & the way he wanted to. Again I'm wishing for you ~~~ring vibes~~~

Yes! June 8th we are going up north to Tobermory. We are renting a cottage for a week with my best friend and her cousin. It's a gorgeous place, situated on the water, with the clearest blue waters you'll ever see.
We've talked in detail about a proposal this year, specifically in the first half of 2013. He has the money saved up for the ring now, and I have a strong feeling he will propose sometime during that week. Only 5 months left!

Its my birthday at the end of the month and although OH doesnt know that i know (he will never know that i know)- im being taken away for the weekend to London, England AND............. my ring has officially left the shop!!! Again, i do not know bout this!! I am bubbling with excitement! Roll on Jan 25th :)

@Pinkrefresher: I know it'll be sometime during our trip because my SO has already told me, we talk about everything no secrets.
@Pinkrefresher: He hasn't told me exactly when, just sometime during our trip, so it could be New York or Niagra Falls as we are going there as well. I don't mind where, the element of surprise is ridiculous to deal with now.
We went to try on my engagement ring again yesterday with a really lovely wedding.

I was completely convinced that FI was going to propose while we were on vacation, however I had a business trip a few days before and he flew out there to surprise me before vacation. I was absolutely shocked!

Thanks hun, It's a Sapphire and diamond cluster and a diamond wedding band. (I haven't bought the band yet) I'm going to wait for my official engagement to share pics. Not long to wait though...rolll on April. There will definitely be a proposal story and I'll need to take myself off the waiting list too.
Oh cool I'll look out for it then -I'm 99.9% sure I'll still be knocking about on the waiting board then!!

@Wonderfully: I am not 100% sure if it will be on our vacation for my 30th birthday but I have a feeling. Only because my SO INSISTS on paying for almost the entire trip himself (and we usually split our trips down the middle no problem since neither of us are rolling in dough) and he insisted on picking the location where I actually spend my birthday.
It was my dream to travel to Ghana, West Africa for my 30th Birthday and I wanted to stay like 2 weeks. He is fine with us going to Ghana for one week out of the trip but for the first week (the actual birthday week), he wants us to go to Paris. He said, "I can't explain it to you any better right now but it just means a lot to me for you to spend your birthday in a place that I picked." O_o At first I was actually a bit pissed about it because I felt like, "It's my birthday so I should be allowed to pick where I want to go!" but then I let it go. He's trying to feel included and I shouldn't take that from him. That conversation was the first hint I got that he must be planning something "extra special" like maybe a proposal? ;-)
B-day not until September 2013, though, and he just asked me for my ring size and ring type less than 2 weeks ago! So now I think I will be a nervous wreck after having to wait that long. Hopefully he'll do it Valentine's Day and just put me out of my misery. :-)

We're heading to Vegas in just over a month and I know that the SO is planning on proposing during the trip but I have no idea how or when. I'm just hoping it somehow involved the Goretorium because I really want to go and it would be so us - seeing that the first time we said "I love you" was while watching the Exorcist
