One of my friends is very acne prone and has also tried everything like that. She told me she started using a tea-tree face wash/moisturizing set from Origins and I can definitely tell that it is working really well for her. I don't know if the other stuff was just too harsh and that was making her break out worse or what, but maybe try that? I know she said there is a daily moisturizer and then a night time cream that she uses and then the cleanser and the scrub is for twice a week.
Something you can try is Organic Acai Berry Juice. Not on your face... in your body! It's not for losing weight like most people think. It's a super antioxidant and makes your skin and hair GORGEOUS!
I have been using Origins for about a month and a half and it seems to be working. I do still get occasional pimples but they clear up really fast and I don't get a lot of tiny ones anymore.
Sooo.. Origins.. where do I purchase that? Can I buy it in the store, or do i need to purchase it online?i'm willing to try anything.. it could be that the products I have been using are too harsh.. the Skin ID I just used definitely made my skin worse.. I thought maybe it'd get worse before it got better.. but like 3 months later and no improvement...
You can only buy it at Origins stores and some department stores. They have a website too at origins.com. I don't like products like Skin ID and Proactiv because they are basically benzoyl peroxide (which dries my face out like crazy) or salycilic acid (which doesn't work too well for me).
I had the same problem right after we got engaged, and I started freaking out immediately. I tried all these things, but heres the solution that worked for me.
Everyday, when I woke up I washed my face with a gentle skin cleanser, called Cetaphil. I put dabs of 10% benzol peroxide (something I had never used before), and then I put Cetaphil lotion on my face (it feels heavy but it makes your skin lovely). At night, I did the same thing right before bed.I repeated this for a month, and 6 months later I get almost no new pimples!
One thing you have to make sure of is that when you wash your face you do it gently. When you rub the lotion or peroxide, do it very very gently, like barely touching your face. I never thought my skin was that sensitive, but this really made a difference. Stop using scrubbers or anything abrasive. When you dry your face off after a shower, dab the cloth on your face, don't rub.
Tee tree oil is very affective as well, but I didn't have access to it. Good luck!
okay.. made a trip to ORIGINS today... gonna start my "personalized regimen" tonight.. we'll see how it goes.. keep your fingers crossed.. it cost me 113 bucks- so I hope it works... actually, I'd pay whatever it took if it really helped my skin!! Here goes nothin'....
I hope it works for you! I have been doing pretty well with it. I'm slowly transitioning to the new Zero Oil line. The Checks and Balances cleanser is great for the winter though.
Just chiming in to say the Clarisonic Mia is amazing! (But yeah, it's a little pricey.) Good luck!
I have dry, very sensitive skin that breaks out. I've tried Retin A, alpha hydroxy, gentle cleansers like Cetaphil, and nothing worked! The Clarisonic changed my life!- no more peeling, almost no breakouts at all. I use it with Philosophy Purity cleanser and Hope in a Jar moisturizer.
I started using products from Avalla/Nutrimetics...all natural products and they are GREAT.
I actually started selling the line too because I loved all the products and now a lot of my family and friends are using them too.
My fiance has a bit of trouble with breaking out after eating dairy. He gets very red, blotchy, little pimply dots. He has to consume dairy in very low amounts.
As for me, I found that every soap outside of Irish Springs for showering leaves me with acne prone skin especially dove.
interesting about the diary... it would be touch to cut out because I love it so much. But I do eat a lot of it. Yogurt, milk, cheese and occasional ice cream... anyone know if soy products are better? Thanks bees.
Soy is definitely better... although some people are intolerant to it... so just be careful! If you start using a lot of soy products and then notice some digestion issues it is probably the soy.
My BF is allergic to regular milk, so he just drinks lactose-free milk. He hasn't broken out anymore since.
Unfortunately, for me, trying to make any changes in dairy didn't affect my acne. I still broke out regardless.
If that doesn't work and you only have a couple of stubborn ones, try Clinique's acne solutions spot healing gel. Works for me like a charm.
You need a good regimen: gentle cleanser, oil-free moisturiser, and med from your dermatologist to fight the breakouts.
Struggled with mild acne for years, and I've tried it all. Finally realized I needed a gentle yet effective cleanser along with an Rx (nothing you can buy OTC will be as effective). I love Kiehl's Rare Earth Cleanser. To fight acne, I use Benzaclin.
I've tried EVERYTHING...Clinique, Dermalogica, Proactiv, Murad, Mario Bedescu, plus every drugstore brand (from Clearisil to Nature's Cure) and every organic product at Whole Foods, Lush, etc, etc... and honestly, no topical cream rivals the prescription-strength stuff.
I also eat pretty well, and limit caffeine. I hope that helps.
If nothing else works, it may be a hormone issue. A dermatologist or doctor could prescribe doxycycline and/or a contraceptive pill (like Ginet 84) that would help if that is the case.
I've had great luck with the Oil Cleansing Method. I use 60% olive oil & 40% castor oil.
@Aimee_Surprenant: How did the Origins regimine work? I've been thinking about trying it.
The pill cleared up my skin. Also, being nice to your skin helps a ton! Using abrasivedrying cleansers, washing with super hot water, picking at my skin, and washing too often make my acne go nuts. And honey, believe it or not, helps a lot when you use it as a mask.
drinkin lots of water helps.. also i use the neutrogena stress control acne scrub.. after trying proactive n a hundred other acne products i've realised that ur best bet is to NOT use one brand for everythign. my daily face scrub is neutrogena, toner is by Olay, moisturiser by clean and clear, weekly scrub by St Ives, .. if i try n use all these products from one brand i hav awful results

so I've tried A LOT of things for my skin! Proactive, proactive extra strength, Neutragena skin ID, and like a TON of stuff from the dermatologist Differen, RetinA, Finacia- (too many funky names to list 'em all).. my skin isn't horrible but it's not clear either.. stubborn acne for sure! What do you acne prone bees used in the past? Is it woking?
