It's been 2 and a half months for me too and I've gained about 5-6 lbs. I don't even know how either because since after the wedding I've cut out coffee, pop, energy drinks, and most chocolate out of my diet (due to medical reasons not personal choice--trust me) and I still gained the weight! What the heck!
Meeeeee. I've gained about 8 pounds.
My pants don't fit and I'm being a baby and lamenting to everyone who'll listen.
My mom said I looked CHUBBY this past weekend. Dude...8 pounds...i'm 5'11", it's not THAT noticeable. Sheesh.
But still, mis pantalones don't fit. Can't deny that. Needles to say, I'm on a diet, I'm strictly listening to my nutritionist/dietician, and I'm hitting the gym 4 days a week so I can lose it in the next month.
You're not alone =]. I'ts easy to say "omg i can have cake now!" and overdo it.
I gained a ton after the wedding
I went from just about the skinniest I've been in years to the biggest (for sure) I've ever been
maybe this is where the saying 'fat and happy' comes from, but I really resent mean joking that I better no let myself go, and also commenting on how I chopped my hair off (it was a planned donation to locks of love) luckily my DH supports me 100%!
@ejs: Yeah - I'm definitely in the tight pants stage but am refusing to by bigger pants as that will probably just encourage the weight gain! Treadmill for me tonight!
@cannotwait: Yay for supportive hubbies! When I told my hubby how frustrated I was he said, "Sometimes you need to look good to feel good! Go pamper yourself today... go get a haircut, mani/pedi etc. Maybe that will make you feel better and it will be easier to start working on your goal." Gotta love him!!!
I'm up about 10 lbs since the wedding. I haven't been working out and some food has caught up with me over the past 6 months. Haven't really been dieting much because it's hard to plan out meals and everything. I'm still trying to get into the habit of making food.
My husband doesn't even see the 8 pounds, or so he says. I think he lies to me to make me feel better =]. Then again, we ARE hardest on ourselves. I just want to stop it before it ends up being 15 pounds...or 20....then i DO have to buy new pants. Oye vez.
@fallflowers, your hubs is right. When you feel good about it, you do better and your goal is easier to reach. However, I always think it takes at least a week for me to get in the groove of things. I'm still in that "bloated, icky phase" from thanksgiving. Not to mention a surprise birthday party SAturday night in which copious amounts of chili, junk food, beer, and cake were involvd.
Right now all i want to do is go home and jump on a machine!
I've gained 6 since the wedding, tryign to keep it off between a new job/travel/holidays has been rough. consider me a FAIL.
It's hard to keep the pressure on yourself when the pressure has been lifted!
Here! It's been 2 1/2 months and 5-7 lbs for me too. I noticed that my stomach looked a little softer a few weeks ago but didn't think anything of it until I stepped on the scale and got a bigger number than I have EVER seen for myself. My pants still fit but ever since Thanksgiving I have had a perma-foodbaby. Not ok.
So today at lunch I took the dogs for a walk. It wasn't a long one but I took them out one at a time so that I had to go twice as far. I feel much better now. Don't feel like you have to jump in and go work out at the gym hard for 2 hours to make a difference. Even my 15-20 minute walk really helped and is going to make it easier to get back into the habit of exercising.
Ejs, you are right. Women are a lot harder on themselves than the men. My husband doesn't notice any changes though he says my butt shrunk, not sure how that happened when the rest of me gained haha.
I feel better knowing I'm not alone, even though I'm sorry we're all bumming in the first place!
I made it a goal last night to do pilates twice a week. It did a lot for my squishy stomach and back in the months leading up to the wedding and of course, it's where it magically sprung back to.
Funny how 5 or 10 doesn't look like much on paper, but it makes a very noticeable impact on your body, right? At least enough for you to notice yourself....and in my case, enough for 5 sets of pants to not even be able to close around my tummy.
@ejs: I was thinking the same thing, 5 lbs doesn't seem like a lot at first but when I am trying to get my pants up over my butt it sure seems like a lot! So depressing.
Boo for squishy tummies.
@caitlanc - you're so right! Any movement, regardless of whether it's an intense workout, is going in the right direction! Walking dogs is so much fun! We don't have any dogs because I don't like pets around the house but I do like walking dogs! Maybe I can find someone to lend me their dog to walk!
You're not alone! I gained about 8 pounds since my wedding, 2 of which I've lost. So it's been a little over 6 months and I'm up 6 pounds. I lost a lot of weight right towards the wedding, I think because I was so busy and stressed.
I definitely gained weight after our wedding. I think it's a natural release for most brides. Also, the week before our wedding, I was so excited and nervous, I couldn't eat. So, on our honeymoon, I pigged out like crazy. And then once I got home, I was so exhausted, I didn't want to do anything. I relished in the fact that I didn't have to go to the gym and one or ten brownies wouldn't kill me. since I wasn't be photographed from every angle in the upcoming weeks.
Our wedding was a little over two months ago, and this started to wear off about a month and a half after we got back from the wedding. I've just been hitting the gym like I used to and trying to watch what I eat. It goes away!
Its been almost 6 months for me and Ive gained about 8-10 pounds. The worst part is as much as I want to lose the weight, I am not motivated to eat better or exercise. I could eat better on my own, but not with DH and I eating dinner together (we like different things and if I want a healthy fish, he hates fish) and I dont want to make 2 separate dinners.
@FallFlowers - I'll bet you could! My friend used to always take our dogs out when we lived in the same town since she couldn't get one of her own and they all LOVED it. Actually, I'm pretty sure Rusty loves his "Auntie" more than me. Definitely a Win-Win situation. :-)
Don't throw anything at me, but I've actually lost about 4 lbs since the wedding a month ago. Not that I've tried, we're just eating smaller more frequent meals now, and trying to continue the healthier foods. I don't look or feel any different, but just went to the docs last week and saw the drop in weight. I'd probably be even leaner if I actually exercised, TG for a fast metabolism..
I think I've gained, but I'm afraid to look. I lost over 60 pounds over a two year period about five years ago. I had put back on 20 of those by this past summer. I had lost about five pounds before the wedding but I'm sure those are back now. Ack so hard to hit things hard before the holidays and the husband can eat anything and not gain. He's a junk food junkie.
About 10 pounds here. Ack! I definitely gave myself permission to gain a little post-wedding... I wanted to make good dinners and bake things without beating myself up about it for a while! I've been shredding periodically, so at least I still have some muscles hiding under here somewhere, but the good eatin' honeymoon is officially over, and I'm heading back to the gym.
Ahh! Thanks for writing this post! I haven't been on much lately because grad school has taken over my life, but I came on tonight looking for a post like this! My pants are tight too! I don't know how much weight I've gained since the wedding because I don't know what I weighed at the wedding (I lost weight the last week or two for SURE, but I wasn't trying, and I didn't have a scale at my parents house and I was too busy to really care)... But now I'm just like HOLY SHIT! I am positive I have gained 5 lbs but wouldn't be surprised if its more like 7 or eeekkk 10?!?! I also quit smoking right after the honeymoon and I think that is adding to it. I need to get back to the gym. You ladies are inspiring me... How can we do this?!?
Oh we have both gained weight. Hubby quit smoking back in April and has gained about 25 lbs. since. I have gained 8 - 10 and no longer can fit in most of my jeans. All the weight seems to have accumulated in the ab region above the belly button. Muffin top - aggggggggghhhhhh!
@bluespurrs - thats where my weight gain is too! Everything goes right to my stomach, I hate it! I have been wearing some of my work pants with the top button undone, it stinks :(
I've gained too! Arrrggh! 10 pounds in one year, but I've stabilized at least now, and I'm going to try to slowly lose.
6 months, gained 14 lbs, heading into the holidays.... ohhh boy! To be fair to myself, it's been a very rough 6 months so I'm not really surprised. Just buckling down and making better choices. I didn't gain it in one day, it's not going away in one, so might as well just try to do what you can and make the commitment to lose it :)
Wow! What a relief that I'm not alone! I have only gained about 3 pounds, but I've gotten softer for sure! I was going to the gym every morning at 4:30am prior to the wedding...since the wedding, I have been about as motivated to go to the gym as I am to pay the bills! I'm starting to get back into my routine but the motivation is not the same. We're going to the Dominican in June so maybe I'll start picturing myself in a bikini and that will get my butt moving!
I've noticed my pants are a tad tighter as well since the wedding...when I checked the scale last week I was 7 pounds heavier than my normal weight! Eek! I even took off the clothes I was wearing in a pathetic attempt to see how much that would take off. :(
I walk to work every day (an hour of walking), but I don't always make the best food choices (I've never had to think about it before) or go to the gym. Looks like our old exercise bike needs some attention!
While I know none of us are happy about it, I'm sort of relieved that I'm not the only one experiencing this.
I don't own a scale (I think they make people obsess about their weight, which is just a number!) but I still fit in all my clothes, so I don't think I have gained.
UPDATE: I took myself off the bc pill this morning and am hoping that will help as I believe that's been part of the culprit (only been married 3 months but been on bc pill 10 months). Here's to hoping it helps...
I know that I gained two pounds on the honeymoon alone! Since getting back, I haven't really gotten back into my routine of working out 5-6 days a week because of starting a new job. I can't wait to get home tonight and do the Shred! It's time to stop making excuses!
I was in the same situation, actually I was even a little bit heavier than usual already at the wedding (stress doesn't make me drop pounds, rather the contrary) and then the honey moon and just summertime in general and ehem, I wasn't very happy about my looks anymore because my clothes were tighter...
The good thing is that I got my husband on board for making some life style changes - we started eating as "clean" as possible and the extra weight is now gone (am even skinnier than before). Of course, it was hard in the beginning investing all that extra time in grocery shopping and cooking everything from scratch but now, three months later, it has become a habit and I really don't regret it. Also it really helps being two - we support each other and take turns cooking - and we're happy with the way we look again.

Ugh! Is anyone else dealing with post-wedding weight gain? It's only been 2 1/2 months, and a surprising number of pounds have already snuck-up on me! I guess I shouldn't be surprised since we went on a cruise for our honeymoon, I no longer have the pressure of fitting in a dress and my hubby enjoys junk food but wow, I wasn't expecting this. I'm getting ready to kick into gear and take care of it but not looking forward to dealing with it during the holidays. Anyone else going through this right now?
