Yep..it's normal. Luckily, platinum scratches don't actually take any of the metal off of the ring, it just pushes it aside, so if you decide to get it polished, it will look like new. If you give it a while, though, the scratches create a nice "patina" on the ring, and it looks lovely. It's just the first few scratches that look sad and scary. Unfortunately, any super polished metal will look very scratched up when the first ones get on there.
Yes, this is normal. Platinum scratches easily (it's called "patina"). However, if you take platinum to be professionally polished, the scratches will buff out. Because of the nature of platinum, a scratch doesn't actually take any of the metal away, it displaces it. So unlike gold, where when you polish it, some of the gold is lost, you can polish platinum without ever losing any of the original metal. It just won't stay polished very long, which is why it's sort of useless to try to keep it perfectly shiny looking. The scratched/patina-ed look of platinum is one of its characteristics. Lots of people come to quite like the patina-ed look.
Yup... get used to it. :) I posted here with pictures about my platinum rings before and after a cleaning/polishing (I had been wearing them for about a year and a half).
hew~ Thanks, ladies! Definitely feeling better about it now.

I have a platinum band e-ring and the palm side of the band is already showing scratches! I mean like it's been YEARS of wearing scratches...(I've only had silver rings, and that's how I'm making the comparison)...Is this normal? I've only had the ring for 10 days!
