I'm no sewer, so I'd be taking these to a seamstress. A reputable one, at that! I'm sure it's possible, though!
2 questions...Is the top ruched? Can you look inside the dress and see how much seam allowance there is?
I am a seamstress. What you need to do is take this dress to a seamstress and have her determine how much extra fabric is in the seams. It may just need to be let out at the seems to fit just fine. Another option might be to have a corset back put in with the same type of fabric and same color. Without seeing the entire dress, I can't say whether panels would work. It would depend on the look that you are going for.
I think a seamstress can take some of the leftover material and make an extension. It probably will look a little off, but atleast it will be the same color!!
are you trying to add material to the back? you can certainly add on a back/modesty panel. It depends how much material you have. It'll be a pain in the butt, though, and it probably will be obvious from the back.
It's not ruched per se, but it's kind of folded/pleated/gathered. Here's the front:

Unless the designer was generous with the seams, there is probably only about an inch total to work with on this dress. If you can get fabric that matches, I think putting an extra panel in would work or just have the back remade and a new zipper put in. Your other option would be a corset back with a privacy panel.
^ That's what I was thinking: remake the back w/ the extra fabric and add a new zipper.
Yay! She took it to a seamstress that said she can fix it!
I'm relieved, I had started looking to change BM dresses altogether.

The BM dresses I chose I found out were discontinued. So I called a bunch of stores and located the dresses in the sizes required that they had in-stock as samples.
One of them doesn't fit in the bust area at all (she is well-endowed in the chest area) and the zipper doesn't quite reach.
They are long dresses, we're chopping them off to above-the-knee, so there will be extra fabric.
Sewing/seamstress bees, please tell me that the top can be recontructed with extra material we're cutting off the bottom!
