As some of you may know, I have changed/upgraded my engagement ring a few times…most recently a princess (or sqare radiant, unsure). The upgrade I just mentioned was because I wanted my husband to have the chance to choose a ring that he would want for me, not one that I chose or had any input for. Well, he did just that and chose a beautiful ring (mentioned above) that was “square” in his words. A square was important to him. I loved it! After about a week of wearing it I found that it was difficult to wear because the high setting and small diamonds lining each prong. I didn’t want to worry about them falling out over time. The ring just seemed too fragile in my opinion and I didn’t want it to sit in it’s box most of the time. Last Sunday we exchanged it for another princess diamond that we chose seperate from the setting. The setting we like was plain but a really pretty cathedral which added just enough of a classy elegant look. The jeweler said he could order it in platinum, my first platinum ring, and would have the diamond ready by the end of this week. We felt comfortable that the whole ring would be simple and very sturdy that I could wear most of the time.
This brings me to my point (finally!). The other rings that I had before were all uncertified. This diamond is certified by EGL USA. The certification states the diamond as 1.03 carats, G color, and VS2 clarity. The plot showed no inclusions from the top view, just a few very small ones from the bottom view. Impressive, but I was concerned after reading some negative statements about EGL USA. Yesterday we checked in on the progress of my ring and while there we scoped it under 30xpower magnification. There was not a single dot of an inclusion that we and the jeweler could find, which did match the clean diagram on the cert. So far so good. When I pick up the ring I will bring it to a jeweler I know, as well as another one or two, to get their opinion.
Basically what I am saying is that at this point I have high regards for EGL USA. Even the jeweler said that he knows the cert will be spot on for my diamond. They have a great reputation, lots of customers, and are stricked about the items they sell. I will update with pictures and more info on what the other jewelers say. The ring is so beautiful…my first certified AND platinum ring!!! I can’t wait to post pictures! Those of you who read this very long post, thanks 🙂
