I haven't been but I really REALLY want to go so bad. If you two end up going there I hope you have a lot of fun and take a lot of pictures!
My husband and I went last summer when we got engaged. Just to forewarn you it is FAR from romantic!! We stayed in 5 star places and they may have been equivalent to a 1 star in the US - so just be aware! It is awesome to see the historic sites and definitely a place to visit in your lives, but like I said... NOT romantic at all!! Everything is old, lucky to get a queen bed as most are separate twin beds, food is ok, and you will be constantly hounded to buy things as tourism is their main money maker. We have backpacked all over the world and it didn't bother us, but we were disappointed in thinking we were going all out... and then what we received! If you do move forward let me know as I can try to give advice of accommodations. But... the sites are unbelievable!!

My parents went last year and had a fantastic time. It was a small tour group, but they just loved it.

Mr. SP and I are looking into going to Egypt next spring. I'm starting to do my research now. We would like to see Luxor, Cairo, Sharm el-Sheikh and Alexandria. We have some international friends who we will meet up with but I would still love your input if you've ever been?
