I am trying to find an inexpensive but elegant centerpiece for my wedding.
Since my fiance is Irish and our reception is near a fishing pier, I am incorporating both Celtic knots and nautical knots in my wedding theme.
I really like this idea:
This centerpiece will cost around six dollars total.
Do you think it is too plain? Should I dress it up a little? I was thinking of maybe incorporating a satin ribbon around the base of candle or the hurricane.
By the way I do not like mirrors or flower petals on tables. I think it looks cheap.
Also, the table linens will be ivory. So should I use a white candle or an ivory one?
Thanks in advance!

You can add some greenery inside the vase at the bottom. Or a ribbon…I think it does need something though…

If you are doing knots as part of your theme, what if you used a rope instead of ribbon and tied a knot at the end?
I do think it might be a little plain by itself… Can you sprinkle some other votives around it? Or put some neutral colored rocks underneath the candle to give it a little more texture?
Or what if you put it on a pedestal of some kind?

I don’t know how nautical you’re going but here are some ideas. I think it does need *something*.

You could make celtic knot coasters as a base for the vase
You could make large versions of a turk’s head knot and place them on the table right beside the vase- maybe a cluster of 3 of varying sizes.
If I wrapped anything around the vase, it would be rope rather than ribbon or burlap.
