Weddingbee boards

Hi Bees!

My venue is an elegant yacht sailing Newport Beach on a September evening~

we were thinking our colors would be nice as Navy, White, Khaki/Champagne & Silver a bit like this:

So i'm struggling with elegant but nautical centerpiece ideas.  We're not allowed candles on the yacht and I was hoping to sort of be unique and different by doing less flowers and more of something else but I need some help!

What do you guys think about a message in a bottle table number guest book type thing?

My idea involves taking this beatuiful idea:

and putting it on these bottles from ikea:

with like some sand and maybe tiny seashells in it or what not.

or maybe just a sign with the instructions like "Please send us a message in this bottle for *Kimmy & Mark* to open on their 16 wedding anniversary" and the bottles half labeled like this:

What do you guys think?!

And do you think it will look pretty enough on the tables to be considered centerpiece worthy? Any other advice for the decor of the table? I was thinking nautical striped table runners like these as well:

and this is our venue so that's actually what the tables will look like!

So what do you guys think? Maybe little vases as well with a bit of flowers in them? Maybe more substantial favors to decorate too?

I've just found these to hold the bottles and decided I should just save myself the $4/bottle that I would have spent on the ikea bottles and use recycled clear wine bottles with corks like traditional "message in a bottle" fashion
soooo just incase someone's looking for a really sweet, sentimental, recyclable, flower-alternative, natuical centerpiece idea...

here you go!
I'll probably put shells &/or sand around the large nautilus to make it chic and still nautical.

I'll update when I've done one! Maybe I'll inspire other DIY-ers ;]

@Eireann:  Thanks! We have a photobooth so that's gonna double as our guestbook but this is sorta ANOTHER way for guests to write us on more of a long term scale... I think its sweet too cuz it lends to the thought that YES we'll be together this long and probably still need advice lol ~ til death do us part! ;D

What size bottle/paper are you using for your message in a bottle guestbook?

@suzieq80:  Thanks! I hope it works well... I wonder what size papers I should have so people can roll them up and put them in the bottle... Maybe I could get "pearl" stationary and ask for "pearls of wisdom" hehehe
