I’m after a unique dress! Strapless really doesn’t suit me…
I found this Johanna Hehir dress but I’m not sure if it’s just too formal!
Quite out of my character to be this formal – I find it hard to be serious…I bet i’m going to be a giggling mess at the wedding! So how does one strike a balance between elegant and fun?
I have been driving my friends and family crazy with my indecision and wild vacillations! Plus I have no strong emotions that ‘This is the ONE’, so it’s hard to tell whether this dress is…nice…enough? How can you tell whether a nice dress is nice enough?!! EEK..
If anybody has suggestions of elegant / fun dresses that are a bit different let me know!
No diamonds, big bows or meringues!!!
Thanks everyone. x

I love the dress you’ve linked to on here! I don’t think it looks too formal; have you looked at tea length dresses? If you’re not sure you should go try some different styles on, you might be surprised by what you like best. I always think tea length dresses look both fun and bridal 🙂

Something like this maybe?

I think the dress you linked to is GORGEOUS, and not too formal! Have you tried it on yet? That can make all the difference.

It’s super charming. It’s formal, yes, but for a wedding, that’s not necessarily a bad thing! The 50’s style neckline lightens it up and will look great with a birdcage veil!

I actually think that for a wedding gown, its pretty casual looking. If it fits your personality, then go for it!

Yes- I tried it on and I thought ooh this is nice…I look vaguely thin and it’s not like many other dresses…but I was surprised how grown-up I looked! Like i said i’m quite silly….Maybe I’m doubting because I thought ah it’s all sorted, but I took another BM and she was just shocked at how formal I looked! Not my usual self perhaps…but I usually wear bag dresses so maybe she was surprised I had a waist…haha..
Lara- thanks for the pic; the off shoulder straps are definitely quirky!
I did try on a spotty candy anthony dress and while it was fab, it was a bit uh too fun for me because I was acting like a big child!! heehee…

I love the Johanna Hehir dress, and I think it would look fantastic with a birdcage veil. I don’t think it’s too serious or formal at all.

Love the dress! I think it will look awesome with a birdcage veil and the neckline is awesome. I think it’s both a little formal but also fun with the neckline 🙂
