the place will need alot of work from you but its worth it!! - the ballroom (it was previously an art gallery then an addition was put on as a chaple) is pretty stark right now, but has the potential to be amazing! The estate intends to fill the ballroom with replicas of its original art work and they also intend to keep doing upgrades for the next year (fixing some broken marble, upgrading the carpets, adding furniture). this estate was just opened to the public last month. visit it, but make sure to keep an open mind. google images of the estate - and look what you can do with it. its really something special and you can make it work if you are willing to be creative!! Good luck!
I just booked Elkins Estate for my wedding. It is absolutely stunning. Large pillars at the entrance. Inside there is a gorgeous painting on the ceiling. Yes certain aspects of the place need some work. But in my opinion I would get married there tomorrow and think it was perfect. Definitely go and visit it.
Though one warning, since they have just opened the place the staff is not all extremely organized. i have had a bit of troublet getting phone calls returned. But since it is just the site and not the caterer or another vendor I did not mind as much.
Good luck!
Thanks so much for the responses ladies. I'm seeing the inside this Tuesday and I can't wait. We drove by it last week and thought it was just stunning from the outside. Fingers crossed that it works for us!

Has anyone visited the Elkins Estate in Elkina PA? I would love to have my wedding there next year and will be visiting their open house next tuesday but was curious to find out in advance what it looks like inside? I've heard it could possible need a lot of work. Anyone been inside?
