After 3 long years of waiting and ordering and expensive mistakes, I have finally proven to myself that perfection can be found in a moissanite. That I have found a ring I love so much, I wouldn’t change a thing about it. This is my forever ring. This is a ring I will never sell or reset. I’m finally done. I was truly worried I would never ever be happy. I would never find the one. I thought maybe there was something wrong with me!
Backstory: so 3 years ago my husband gave me the green light for my third ering upgrade (our 15th anniversary). My previous upgrades were all diamonds and ended up being very wasteful in that I could never resell my previous diamonds for much more than half of what I paid. By nature, I’m a bargain hunter type so this lost money on buying/selling diamonds would make me sick. Not to mention, the fact that I never seemed to love what I got. Determined not to make the same mistake again, I started researching how to not lose money on diamonds and discovered “Amora gem” and then through AG, I discovered moissanite. I was immediately sold on the concept and I bought my first AG, a modern cushion with a week. To me the AG was beautiful and was certainly “as advertised” but I did not love the cut or the color and I honestly hated the btd setting. So I kept my eye out on each and every development to see where I could find something I liked better. The following year, I tried another shape, the AG princess cut. I was very shocked by how yellow the “F” color stone was and sent it back right away. The cut was also unlike a diamond princess cut to me. It lacked depth and looked very splintery. So I kept waiting until I saw the new cushion cuts put out by schubach’s last winter. I emailed Jenn immediately and put an order in. Long long story somewhat shorter, I now have the most gorgeous 8x9mm (GHIish color) ACC moissanite on my finger. I also have two equally stunning 6.5mm ACC stud earrings (there’s a video of them on schubach’s IG posted today). And I also have a 4mm 5 stone ACC ring in the works.
CUT: The cut is just perfect. The stone is alive. IIt has depth and you can look deep into it and see the lightplay on the facets throughout the stone. t’s something no photo properly captures. It has that liquid quality. Interestingly, it doesn’t “white out” the same way my AG did. With this cut, I can actually see the double refraction as duplicated facets in certain lighting but it doesn’t make the stone look hazy or plasticky. I much prefer this to the way the AG looked in the same lighting. Honestly, I really think the “ideal” light play according to BTD computers does not equal an ideal cut to the human eye. As an antique cut, this ACC has larger facets that create a constant lightshow of fire and sparkle that I just cannot stop staring at. No photos or video do it justice, but I’ll try.
COLOR: I ordered the near-colorless or what schubach’s calls the “summer white” color. It is estimated to be GHI color. I am very color sensitive and to me it looks like a GIA F or maybe a F color. Which is perfect. Just a hint of color. But it doesn’t have a “tint”
SETTING: The platinum setting is beautifully polished and the double claw prongs are so classy. I really think the stone is set perfectly and I doubt I will ever tire of it. so classic, the perfect choice really.
So without further ado, here are my pics and a few videos that Jenn sent me:
