i could very much use some advice if you have any more knowledge than me on the subject…
i just got married about a month ago. this was not the original plan. my husband and i were going to have a long engagement, since we’re both so young…but we got married to make a lot of things easier. he’s in the navy, stationed about 8 states away from me. i have very serious health problems, and i would have been off my mom’s insurance this week, and kicked out. i don’t have any money because it’s very difficult for me to work in the condition i am in and i just graduated from school. the idea was to just get married at the courthouse now, since we were going to get married anyways, so i could have insurance and have money for a place to live, and not tell anyone. we still very much want a wedding, but i’m afraid that we won’t be able to find an officiant who will go through the motions with us since we’re already legally married. telling our parents is out of the question, even though we’ve known each other for 9 years, we’re still very young.
any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :]

Could you ask a friend to be the officiant?

First of all I hope your condition improves soon. And that you’ll be able to be with the hubby soon.
Before I read charm bracelet’s post I was going to suggest asking a friend or family member to officiate. I’m sure they’ll be honored to do it and you won’t have to worry at all.
Seems like you have a lot on your plate. Take your time with the wedding so you can have everything you really want :o)

I like the other suggestions…we’re getting married by a friend, and I feel certain that he would be more than willing to work with whatever we needed to do to get around something like your situation. I hope that your health improves…and you have a blessed wedding day!

I like the idea of using a friend. I posed that question to my husband when we were looking for JPs for our wedding – why not a courthouse wedding and then we can just have a friend do it. I’ve read about many weddings where it was super personal and special.

I agree with using a friend for the wedding. Sorry to hear about your situation. Enjoy wedding planning!
