So i just was thrown a surprise bridal shower this past weekend. I wasnt expecting anything at all since my SO and I are having a planned elopment to Vegas in 2 weeks time.
My question howerver, is it acceptable to hold off sending Shower Thank yous until after the wedding?
Many people have advised that they will be watching our ceremony live via the chapel webcam services and as they can sign our digital guestbook I was hoping to include acknowledgement of those people in my thank yous as well.
I would like to avoid sending 2 sets of Thank Yous since my shower and wedding are so close to one another. And because nobody was really there, nobody will be sending Wedding Gifts to acknowledge.
I keep getting mixed messages from friends and Family on what is appropriate vs what is expected. Any Thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

@steene222: A surprise shower! Such a sweet gesture. If you have time, I would send the shower thank yous now so you don’t have to think about them anymore. Or you can wait; either way!
I’m not sure why you would need to send thank you cards for your elopement? With a traditional wedding, thank you cards are just sent for gifts; the thank you for attending is the wedding reception. You don’t need to thank people for watching your ceremony webcast, IMO. You could send a wedding announcement if you wanted, though. 🙂

My shower was 5 weeks before my wedding and I was stressed about getting out the thank you cards. With only 2 weeks until your wedding you have to prioritize and IMO thank you cards are not a priority right now.

- Wedding: August 2013 - Wynn Las Vegas
I think it would be fine to wait. 2 weeks will fly by.

I had a shower a couple months ago for our December elopement and I had those puppies out in under two weeks. I just wanted it done, and if I somehow get another shower or two in between now and when we leave, I’ll do the same.
