@Silly_love:  I would suggest getting a permit and having your ceremony in a park. It sounds like you want something really basic.

FI and I want a beautiful venue, even though we are eloping. We will have a suite for 2 days, an officiant, my parents as witnesses, a nice dinner, and breakfast both days. It is under $2,000 for all of that (we are eloping in Toronto).

@Silly_love:  Our venue has a beautiful waterfall. We are getting married in winter, so it will be partly frozen – the pictures will be stunning! Something to consider is an inn…so many of them have great all inclusive packages and can offer you a waterfront view. I wouldn’t recommend a B&B because you will have limited privacy, but we ended up at an inn and are so happy about it.

I’m sorry about your mom. My dad is ill, so we had to move our elopement up and not have it where we originally intended (Jamaica). All that matters is a beautiful, meaningful day with your FI. A lot of folks who have big weddings lose site of that in all the wedding planning chaos. It will be intimate and wonderful, I’m sure 🙂

@Silly_love:  If you want to do it in San Fran you get your marriage license for $100 (from the County Clerk’s office in City Hall) – they can do it at city hall if you really want simple & low cost for an additional $77, and for $128 they can deputize a friend for the day to do it for you.

I second the park idea as well, many state parks only require a day/group area reservation permit which depending on the park is anywhere from $50-$200 for the day…. We eloped in Mexico with just 4 family members there & it was the best decision we ever made! Good luck on whatever you decide!

@Silly_love:  Bed and Breakfast…essentially a “hotel” but in someone’s family home. Definitely not our style, but an upscale inn worked great 🙂

I’d try to figure out where you’re doing it first, some places offer a package deal for weddings, especially if you’re going for a waterfront hotel or something.  You just take care of whatever extras they don’t include.

The San Francisco city hall is amazingly beautiful.   Check it out when you are deciding where to go.

@Silly_love:  That’s pretty much what I did. I typed in “Ontario elopements at inns” and a ton came up. Also, I just found inns I really liked and contacted them. Most are very willing to accomodate small groups (and bend over backwards for you) even if they traditionally don’t do weddings. We ended up at an inn like that 🙂
