I have been heavily considering it now for a week or so.  I just don’t know if I have the guts to do it, or if it’s really what I want and I am not just frustrated with planning right now.

My hubby and I eloped last year because we wanted a day that was purely for us. However, my parents are very strict Catholics and in their eyes our marriage isn’t really valid without a church wedding. Because they’re elderly and because I don’t want to get the Catholic stinkeye from my mom for the rest of my life, we decided to have a big church wedding this month with a full mass and a big reception for our friends and family. We’re footing the bill for everything.

I would have loved to just have one wedding but knowing how stressful both our families could be, having the “first” one worked out for us. Also, everyone knows we’re already married.

We are eloping this weekend and no one knows but us 🙂 We have been together for 3 years and engaged since May but already share our home and lives together. He calls me his wife and vice versa but there’s something coming up that changed our thinking. We were planning on having a small wedding and reception sometime early next year but some medical issues have arisen and my FI will be having major chest and neck surgery next Tuesday the 15th so we are eloping this weekend to cover us legally “just in case something bad happens”. We own a business that is in his name, We have made big purchases that are only in his name thanks to my last marriage messing up my credit, etc and if something were to happen he only has one daughter and she’s a minor so everything would go to his ex. Oh. Hell. No. lol Sooooo, we have decided to get married with just our kids present (I’m 39 and he’s 50) and then we could have our reception/party after he recovers in a few months. Prayers for him please and wish us luck!
