Central Park is a touristy area, if youre willing to go to Brooklyn, I can recommend a few. There is a beautiful park called Brooklyn Bridge Park, that has the skyline of NYC. And TONS of Restaurants there, that can accomodate a small party like yours.
I would look at opentable.com there is a feature that allows you to search for restaurants with private rooms, and it tells you the capacity of those private rooms. also, you can search by location.
@elopinginNYC: Here are the links to a few....

I am also having a small wedding, and Water street will be accomodating me and my guests.
Both Restaurants are walking distance from the park.
waterstreet seems really nice, I thin Pete is a bit casual for us.
@ ms.fondue
also checked opentable and got some nice ideas, thanks!
@ all I'll be in NYC in April for a week. Do you know any bridal stores that carry samples oder dresses without long delivery time? Do you need an appointment at Davids Bridal?
I recommend trying Gabriella -- it's on 14th & 9th ave. You need an appointment, but I was able to get an appointment the day I called. Beautiful dresses, very reasonable prices, and the sales people are so so nice to work with!

Yes--we had our wedding reception at "Park Avenue Autumn" (the last one changes by season, so now it's probably called "Park Avenue Winter") They have a nice private room in the kitchen (!) with a glass wall so you can watch them cook. The table seats 10, 11 with a bit of a squeeze.
I think the private room is called "Kitchen Table."
thanks, will check it out!
@jennyW1 : wow Parkavenue seems lovely, thank you very much!
Hi, if your open to Brooklyn you can try Mortons Steak house. They also have locaitons in manhattan. http://www.mortons.com/brooklyn/
On this website there are tons of resturants broken down by neighborhood. I choose Waterfront cause the same general area suggested by the other poster. http://www.brooklynnow.com/waterfront/restaurants.html
I've always thought it would be fun to do an event in one of the private rooms here.

Looks like their smaller room is for up to 12 people, so it could work well.
Thank you! Also seems really sweet.
I guess I have to do a lot of eating in April to check out all your recommendations
And because all of you had such great advice:
Does anybody know a good, reasonably priced photographer that can be booked for 2 hours or so`? We don't need the usual wedding package with 6+ hour coverage...
what price range are you looking for? i would recommend mine, he is very flexible with pricing, but i'm not sure what his hourly rates are (i got a package). www.kolenphotography.com
i met with other photographers, too, so may have other recs if he doesn't work out (if he's booked or doesn't price by the hour .. )(photography was a very hard choice for us!).
ETA -- look at the sample album, it's an enagement shoot from central park with some really beautiful shots.
I believe our photographer, Sarah Tew, did "elopement specials" where you only booked her for roughly 2 hours or so. She was fabulous, I totally recommend working with her, super quick turnaround, very responsive, and resonably priced.
@ms.fondue
thanks, but noch quite my photography style
Like her style, thanks for the recommendation

Hi everyone.
We are from Germany and planning to elope in NYC in October.
We will only be a small group of 10 people but I still want to have a special day.
I'm thinking of getting married in Central Park followed by a nice photoshoot and dinner.
Do you have any recommondations for a nice restaurant that has a private room or something smiliar for such a small group? All restaurants I have checked out are for groups of 25+ people.
