Hi, I’m paying $750 for a photographer for all day but that’s in NYC where everything is more expensive. This seemed pretty reasonable to me in honesty (I’m from the UK and it works out around £475 for a whole day) as it’s more expensive here. Have a look around and get some recommendations from tripadvisor!

I don’t have any recommendations but how long are you booking the photog for? We are also eloping but in Mexico and our photographer ended up being $650 for 3 hours.  I still think that’s a pretty decent price when you think about it. Most photogs have the opportunity to book a full-day wedding for much more so they really don’t even need to book with us lowly hourly rate people. We ended up a little over $2,000 as well and while it was more than I initially thought, looking around it was still a good deal.

Are you using the resort/hotel’s photographer? I nixed the resort one becuase they didn’t offer anything to suit my needs and were very pricey- instead we contacted someone on the mainland and are paying her $50 in travel expenses. We found her through style me pretty. Just search “costa rica” and take a peek at the real weddings there, they usually list the photog at the end of the post.

Good luck!
