You know, I actually like this. to make it look better, I would personally get a few more of those smaller candles to go around the big one. It will create more balance. And also, keep in mind that the tables will look much better when everything is all ironed, the place settings set up, and everyone sitting around together. 🙂

Here’s an idea: light your candles and turn down the lights to where they’ll be during dinner/during the dancing. Instant pretty! and that’s how the lighting will be for the majority of the party- in the dark 😉 Like the above poster wrote, if you still don’t think it’s enough, maybe two more of the tea light candles?

Hope that helps you feel better! And no one ever remembers the centerpieces anyways.

(I like yours btw)!

@HVbride:  i think what’s throwing me off is the doily and the ribbon.  the bow / ribbon is not proportionate to the vase.

I agree get a few more of the smaller votives. As well if you want to “fill in” around the votives add flower petals. It will give the illusion of more on the table without having to spend a lot!

could you maybe lay something on the table with the table number.. like a flower or a feather or …something?

the two candles seem to be just floating out there on there own and not tied into the main piece.

@HVbride:  i don’t think it needs the doily.  you have the table runner.  you can always go with a mirror but i don’t think it’s necessary.

i would put more votives for sure.  4 or 5 but a bit closer to the vase and not necessarily evenly spaced.

i’ve seen some with flower petals scattered around the votives which looks nice.  it acts as the surround of your arrangement.  in your case, i think i would even consided scattering just a few of those black stones.  it will tie in the whole look.

@HVbride:  also, is it possible to raise the candle a bit more (an inch or so) with more fill or get a taller candle?  there just seems to be a bit too much open space in the hurricane.  try a thicker ribbon too.  i can picture a 2″ sheer wired edged ribbon.
