I am thinking about buying some emergency food/freeze dried food. After Hurricane Sandy (even though I was not affected) I thought about how long I could last on the food in my house right now if God forbid a storm hit. I thought maybe a 4-5 days if I rationed well. When I started looking into emergency foods I read reviews and it apparently doesn’t taste that bad, and all you have to do is add water. Have any other bees considered emergency food?

@Cinderella92: does a costco size box of oatmeal count?

@subtlebee: Lol! I wish I had enough space for like maybe a month worth of food, but right now I don’t, maybe in the future.

I think I always have food that I could eat in an emergency situation, maybe not for months at a time, but for a week maybe… beans and corn… hahah

@ChuckNorris: Ya, in theory the soup cans in my pantry are supposed to be replaced every time I use one so I have a bit of food stocked up, but in reality I never remember it at Safeway.
Another reason I have thought of for keeping a bit of food stored up is that in supermarkets most everything is electronic, not so much if you pay with cash, so if something was ever to happen like a nation wide black out ( I know far fetched but it could happen) we couldn’t pay with visa or debit and you wouldn’t even be able to take out money from a bank.
I know that whole scenario is never probably never going to happen, I would rather be safe than sorry.
