Invite someone you’re not super close with but trust for the sole intention of taking care of the kids?  Do you have any younger relatives – 16-20 yo – that would take care of them?

My younger sister will be 20 when we get married, so I was going to ask her to take my stepson (7 yo) as long as my SO’s side of the family doesn’t insist on taking them. Also, I think they will be our maid of honor and best man, so it would be super adorable to see them hang out all night. My stepson loves her.

msfreemis:  i assume the kids are from past relationships on both your parts? why not have the kids’ other parent take them for a couple of days? that only works of course if you’re on good terms, but it’s a thought.

If they’re both boys, I suggest they stay with your SO for before the wedding, then stay with the one under-21-yo doing hair after the ceremony.  I’m pretty sure that’s what we going to do with our little one. They might have fun getting ready with him 🙂

Well, if you can’t find a babysitter, I guess you are stuck with them. They are your kids, after all.

msfreemis:  Most hotels can refer you to a professional sitter.

Kidlet will stay with me :). Doesnt bother me at all. I’m shipping her home with her grandma on the sunday after the wedding so that I can have a week with just hubs and I.

msfreemis:  Sorry to hear you’re having trouble.  Maybe post on facebook if you have it and ask your friends if they can recommend a good babysitter?  You could hire someone to watch the kids during a date night or something to ensure it goes well, then use that babysitter for your wedding?  Seems to most stress free way to me!  🙂

so the kids stayed with me the night before wedding, they got ready with my bridesmaids and i in the morning. were by my bridesmaids/my side most of the day. at the reception they were on the dance floor having fun. they ended up going to bed around 11 that night. our hotel gave us a master suite with two beds in one area and a pull out couch. so the kids slept on one bed and couch while hubby and i had the other bed.-there was no fooling around that night cause we were exhuasted. we went on a delayed honeymoon to make sure that their step mom would take them for the two week summer visitation period. so once they were with her we took a week long honeymoon and came back and got the house situated and pick them back up.
