So…anyone else dealing with the End of Fiscal Year 2010 who works in government contracting?? I haven’t gotten slammed like some other groups in our organization but as luck would have it I’m here at work late on the only Friday night that matters. After I get a copy of a signature then I can send out an action that’s been driving me up the wall for a few months but been really making me insane for the last three weeks. Of course this is the weekend all my college friends are meeting up 4 hours away from work. So I’m not getting there until late. 🙁 oh well…

- Wedding: June 2010 - Indiana Memorial Union
We got slammed in August. We’re working on something now, but it’s not nearly as bad it was last month.
My husband is worse off though. He’s been working weekends for the past.. 3 months? A proposal just came out for him that’s due Monday. Ha. Wish that was funny.

I was upset when I found out but I am okay with it now. Sometimes things just happen. Hang in there girls I completely understand the exhaustion.

Me! On top of that I’m testing for a raise so I was stressing myself out more than anything else. But I met my office met its goal today and so did I! Woo-hoo!!

my fiance works for Army HRC and they’ve been BRAC’d so he’s unemployed as of 1 October.
That, and unless the Congress passes a contiuing resolution, none of us will get paid once it’s fy11!

I’m a Contract Specialist in Maryland as well! I didn’t get home last week until well after 6pm, when I went to work at 6:30 🙁 Luckily our system shut down yesterday, so everything’s done for the Fiscal Year! Now I’m just dealing with post award stuff from a new contract award… Thank God I didn’t pick late September/early October to get married! But this is the first year (in 2.5 years here) that I’ve had deals going at the end of the fiscal year, so just make sure to plan to finish stuff way ahead for next year.

My DH is a contractor. He’s been slammed and now he just got detailed to another division. I hate the contract world but at least it’s a job. I wish he could go government.

I work as a contractor for a local power company doing computer mapping. I go through a independent temp agency for my actual “employeer”. I just got my contract (thankfully) extended to March 2011! I am so grateful. I’m not sure after that since it may not be allowed to be extended any longer :/ I hope it can or I’ll be hired for real by the company!
Also side note vent: they told me they extended my contract a month ago till March, but have yet to make it official! Each week I have to bug payroll to change my end date online so I can submit a timecard! It makes me nervous them saying they extended it but not seeing it officially in print being overdue.
I feel ya!
