I work in a school within a school for children with dyslexia. I work with an amazing group of 13 5th graders! Since next year I’m moving to a different school (albeit one that is directly behind the one I’m at now) I wanted to do something special to stay in touch with my students. I made them little gift bags containing a note card with my address on the envelope and a stamp and a personal note from me to them. I’m happy to encourage them writing over the summer and I think it’s special to ask them to write to me to keep in touch and update me on what is going on. I expressed to each one of them that they are important to me and I will always be interested in anything they want to tell me or share with me. I also included graduation stickers (since they’re graduating elementary school and moving on up to middle school). I’m so happy with my decision to make this for them, especially because I think it’s really meaningful.
Today I received an end of the year gift from one of my girls – a personalized mug with my name on it and a note on the back of thanks. 🙂
Anyone else giving end of the year gifts to their students? Anyone else received anything meaningful from a student expressing thanks for all of your hard work?
Anyone else looking forward to their summer off? 🙂
