That is such a unique ring! Very beautiful! And congratulations!
Sorry for the large picture! It's a sapphire, on the darker side. It happens to be my birthstone as well. He did a very good job with picking it out on his own, I love it!
Congrats!! That's my dream proposal right there haha! :) I love the ring. (It reminds me a bit of Kate Middleton's ring! PS - I LOOOOOVE Kate and Prince William). It's great that it's your birthstone too! I agree, he did a great job.
@minie77: Thanks so much! It was kind of serendipious, the bird poop in the morning. It's supposed to be good luck, and it definitely was! If you are ever in Central Park, I highly recommend doing the rowboat. Really romantic, and surprisingly affordable for a NYC activity.
btw...love your avatar! I have a pug, love them!
awwwwwwwwwwwwwww.......thats so sweet.. LOL@the poop though! AND your ring is BEAUTIFUL!
Congratulations! That is such a sweet, personal, and romantic proposal!! Happy planning!

I signed up a bit ago onto the 'bee, and have been lurking for the past month enjoying reading the comments on the boards. I'm super excited to finally get to post my story!
A couple of weeks ago, my fiance (how great is that to say?!?) said he wanted us to go to a performance at Lincoln Center for the 9th. I love Lincoln Center, and he knows this, so I'm thinking that this is the moment he is going to propose. I get my nails done the Friday before, put together a great outfit, etc. The plan was for me to come into Manhattan around 1, get brunch, walk around Central Park, and then get ready at his friend's apt for dinner and performance.
As soon as I get into Midtown, walking on 43rd headed to brunch, I see something fall from the sky, and land on my elbow. Lo and behold, it's piegon poop! I hurry to the nearest drug store and pick up some baby wipes, clean up, and on my way.
After brunch, we went back to his buddy's apartment to drop my things off, and tells me that I should change. I tell him, no way, we are going to the park. Fights me a bit, but changes himself. We walk to the park, eventually getting to the boathouse and lake. I suggest we rent a rowboat, since we've done it in the past and enjoyed it so much. We paddle along towards the middle of the lake, and he stops rowing, looks at me and says, "Look at that dog over there!". I go to look all around where he pointed, and when I look back at him, there he is with the ring, tears in his eyes. I don't quite remember what he said, but he did end with "all I want is you, will you be my bride?", a reference to the song from Juno that he would sing to me. I say yes, and then he tells me to look on shore. There is his best friend, with his SLR and telephoto lense, that ended up taking about 600 photos of the entire experience. His friend even had a bag that contained a bag of prosecco with strawberries for us to have. I'm just over the moon happy, and especially happy with what he presented me with!
