Hi, everyone! I’ve been around on WeddingBee for quite a while, but I’m usually pretty quiet. I love reading everyone’s stories and looking at their beautiful rings, and I’m thrilled that it’s finally my turn to share!
My FIANCE (it’s hard not to call him boyfriend, haha!) and I have been best friends for almost ten years and have been dating for five. We’ve known that we would get married for almost the entire time we’ve been together. (Well, actually, he claims he’s known since the 8th grade-which was the first time he asked me to be his girlfriend-but that’s beside the point!) I didn’t come around until the 11th grade, though, which is when we officially started dating.
Right now, we’re 22 and 23. We’ve been holding off on an engagement purely because of monetary reasons—we’re both poor and still in graduate school! However, after five years, he had finally saved up enough to buy the ring he wanted to get me… So here we are!
I knew he had ordered my ring and even what it was going to look like before he proposed; he wanted my approval before he bought it to be SURE I loved it. And gosh, do I ever! It’s literally the most perfect ring I’ve ever seen. Sure, it was tough sometimes to have to just keep waiting on an engagement for five stinkin’ years (there were times when I really felt like I just wanted to do it without a ring), but I’m glad I waited! It was worth it.
I kept telling him that he didn’t have to plan something elaborate for the proposal—that all I really wanted was just to finally be engaged, and to PLEASE not make me wait forever once he got the ring!! So, as it turns out, he got the ring a week earlier than expected on Friday and quickly put together a plan to ask me to marry him on Sunday.
On Sunday, he woke me up and told me to get my nails done and offered to curl my hair for me (seriously—he’s good with a curling wand, haha!!), so I knew it was coming. We went to eat lunch at a cute breakfast place (breakfast is my favorite meal), and then he took me to a local botanical garden. He found a secluded niche in the garden to propose to me, and it was absolutely perfect.
He wanted to make sure we had pictures, too, so he surprised me by having my two best friends show up after he had sealed the deal! It was such a sweet gesture, and it was awesome to share our special time with them as well. I’m glad we’ll have pictures to commemorate the day for forever!
Also, I’ve always thought it was kind of unfair that only the girl gets something special on the “engagement day,” so I planned a suprise for him, too. I bought him an Xbox One (which he’s been wanting forever) and surprised him with it once we got back from the garden. He was THRILLED! 😀
So, without further ado… THE RING!
My center stone is a GIA-certified, triple excellent, 1.60 ct RB. It is an I color with slight fluorescence, and it looks completely white!
The setting is a 3-stone with a halo by Sylvie.
The entire ring is 2.05 cts. My ring size is a 4.25.
